April 2009 Grocery Challenge

I am into the 2nd week of my 5 week April. Did a big shop of around £90 last weekend for the storecupboard, loo rolls etc. And stocked up on meat on Thursday, when Mr T had a load at half price (whoopsie).
Small spend of 31p yesterday on whoopsied ham. NSD today; the weather has been awful & DD hurt her foot earlier in the week, so we didn’t go out. Hopefully will be another NSD tomorrow too, but will definitely need more milk on Monday.
Had boiled bacon joint for dinner. Huge pile of meat for dinner & have already made some pea & ham soup with the cooking water, adding a bit of chopped meat back in after blending the pea soup. Still loads of meat left & will make quiche for pack-ups tomorrow, but there will still be meat left after that.0 -
Hi all - April challenge already!!! Time's going so quickly!!!
Anyhow, my challenge started on 27th March and ends on the 29th April - 5 week month:mad:  Mrs M - please put me down for £400 please. This is for a family of 5 (1 in nappies - although am hoping to start potty training over the Easter break:eek: ) and includes food, contact lens solutions, cleaning/washing stuff, nappies, wipes etc etc.....
Have already made a rather large dent in my budget - have spent £108.26!! Took advantage of Sainsbury's 1/3 off nappies/baby stuff and got 1 big pack of nappies & some nappy cream - shouldn't need to buy any more for the whole of April :j (even if potty training is unsuccessful!)
Cupboards and freezer are fairly well stocked...but we'll have to see how it goes!!
Good luck to you all!!!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

Hi everyone, oh how we all love a shiny new thread:j
Have managed to start the month with a small spend of only £6.27 as we nipped out for a walk round Beverley this afternoon. Could have spent a lot more but managed to resist.
Will have to sit down this weekend and work out a meal plan as I am still running down the freezers - they need to be defrosted soon.
Good luck everyone.0 -
oohh...can you put me down for £50 please...
I was doing well at the january one but then circumstances meant i had to abandon it....so I look forward to hopefully completing this one!August grocery challenge: £50

Hi all,
Hopefully by the time I finish typing this I will still be on the first page :rotfl:
I'm still going for £200, and April began on March 23rd and will end on April the 22nd
I went to Tesco tonight and got cat food - bloomin expensive little sods they are too:
Cat biscuits £7.92
Wet food £6.00
Total spent from the budget: £13.92

So I am currently running at £26.69/£200, which isn't too bad given that the end of the first week is nigh :rotfl:0 -
My March ends tomorrow evening, but I am waaaaaaayyy over £413!!!!
MRS M can you put me down for £380 - I will try harder this month!
Thank you0 -
HI all
Well after being AWOL from the challenge since before Christmas I have now decided to get back on the wagon. Seeing as I have now been made redundant and am pregnant with baby no 3 I have to make it work this time.
Could I please be put down for £300 and £350 for extras for April.
Thanks and good luck everyone.

I'm new this month but would like to try after keeping an eye on spending last month to give me an idea of my spending.
My challenge started on 28th March and ends on the 1st May - another 5 week month
Please could you put me down for £375 please. This is for a family of 4 (2 in nappies, 1 still on formula) and includes food, cleaning/washing stuff, nappies and wipes.

First shop of the month: food component was £115. That's ok, I think, because it included toothpaste, shampoo, dishwasher tablets and toilet roll. I took some things off the order cos it was going over £100, but couldn't drop any further. Well, I could, I suppose, but didn't really need to.
Tonight was a non-vege night: me, oh and ds had salmon steamed with soy sauce, etc, and then we all (ie, dd as well) had spaghetti with broccoli and toasted crumbs & walnuts. I have put some crumbs in the freezer and also the leftover salmon. I'm doing a vege lasagna tomorrow - maybe my 'old' recipe using swiss chard (or silverbeet, as I call it).Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -
