I freeze chille sauce - but I prefer to freeze meals in their individual components (I have the two sauces for a lasagne in my freezer, but will need to assemble with lasagne sheets and top with grated cheese when I use it)Cheryl0

First time I have joined this challenge, despite trying to be frugal I still seem to spend too much in the supermarkets. There are only two of us so my target is £200 for the month for all food and other stuff like cleaning and toiletries.
I do cook from scratch, freeze loads and don't waste food so am convinced the supermarkets are sneaking up the prices even although there are loads of "offers"!
We shall see.

Spent £1.40 today on milk. my freezers & cupboards are full so hoping to get away with just a fruit & veg shop on saturday. I am going to try going to the local farm shop, not sure whether it will work out cheaper but at least it will keep me out of Mr T's so I can't spend on any 'bargains'!Jan GC £0/£2000

Made a sandwich for lunch today, but halfway to bus stop this morning, realised I'd left it in the fridge. So annoyed! I've made a sign saying 'Remember packed lunch!' which I have stuck to the inside of the front door, so I won't do that again tomorrow.
Bought a sandwich in M&S - only £1 for nice egg mayo one, so not too bad. Also bought bag of salad to go with spag bol tonight - 99p.
Walked home from work again, so saved on return bus fare.April grocery budget £100 spent £26.070 -
£14.24 spent in Aldi today mostly on nice salad, cold meats and strawbs to enjoy in this nice weather we're having.
Mrs M, please can you put me down for £250 for April. Thanks0 -
Hi all, and Happy April!
Had to pop to Morrisods for the decaf tea-bags I'd forgotten in my big shop (they cost an arm and a leg at the local Coop) and 'accidentally' bought a few other offers - all bits we didn't need as such, but will use - especially the reduced apple cakey things which somehow made it into my basket
OH is late at work (so they're getting pizza) and I was stuck at work til 7 so just had a curry from the freezer - I always make a few portions and freeze what's left for days like this. Had chilli the other day from the freezer, and as usual it tasted nicer than when it was fresh!
Haven't managed to get OH to taste-test the Asda Weetabix yet, but now he knows they're in the flat, he's paranoid - despite opening a sealed box this morning, he wasn't entirely convinced I hadn't tampered with it, and watched me suspiciously whilst eating his breakfast :rotfl:0 -
Haven't had a chance to catch up on todays posts but wanted to say I'm going to have to cut my budget for the moment as I just been given my notice at work. Hopefully will find something quickly and I have enough money to get through the next two months rent and bills, but after that I may have a problem. So, I'll be do the best I can to not spend much more money this month as the food budget is the only thing I have control over. I hoping for a spend of no more than £30 for the rest of the month, though I think for now I will keep my annual target the same. Todays NSD went a long way towards a new approach and tomorrow will only need a bottle of milk.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650

Evening all
Sorry to hear about your job Toonie... hope you find something quickly
Well Since my ickle spend of €13.45 the other day I haven't spent a cent :j -so thats one week out of this month so far and doing well -although hubby went back to the UK on tuesday until friday evening and I have given him my UK bank card and a list  -just in case he gets time to nip into ASDA or TESCO ...... thing is if he only gets bread flour it saves me 2/3 of the price out here..68p against €2.09 :T ...so it would be silly not to take advantage.. I will update on friday IF he spends anything....plus I will need salad n potatoes ooh and milk on Saturday -but only another little spend again.
Whilst he has been away I have been using odds n sods out of the fridge/freezer/cupboards :A :rotfl: ...
The veggie seedlings are coming along great guns -with many more still to be set :j -Im slowly working down the freezers -hoping to have loads of crops I can freeze to subsidise us through winter .. so fingers crossed
hope everyone is doing well:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
