    Hi

Can I be put down for £40 per week again please? I'm hoping to keep well under it because we move house in 2 weeks. I'm hoping this will save me money because we move into a town (we have been living in a large village with a Coop and a small Tesco and a lovely veg shop, unfortunately not a cheap way to shop) Then if it does work out cheaper I''m going to try to aim for £30 per week (but not till I've filled the freezer and my store cupboard.)

I hope everyone is feeling better with the spring weather arriving and that everyone has a good month

iv seen pak plants for sale(last year)ill get some when i see them this year and give them a go...u make it sound easy but i have a nasty habit of killing off plants esp ones i get as presents and people come to my house and ask about(mil mainly
    thanx again tess

tessiebear - I'm exactly the same with houseplants - dread mum giving me another 'precious' cutting that she's nurtured as its always dead by the time the months out. However.... I can grow outdoors, easy peasy. :D :T Give it a whirl and save yourself £s. ;)

Budget getting eaten away by the 3 males in my house acting like 'men behaving badly' while I was recovering from tummy bug and unable to venture into the kitchen. Much eating of pizzas, cereal and more pizzas.

Well, their little reign of terror is over because I'm back on form now and can stand the smell of freshly baking bread again, so they're back to basics again and I'm back in charge of the purse strings.

    Sig updated.

    Morning all!:hello:

So sorry it has taken me so long to update sig. I can't seem to keep up with everything these days.icon9.gif DH is on a 4 day week which is now really beginning to kick in, so will have to try to be extra frugal. Still some job is better than no job, so must not complain. Sorry to hear about your job Toonie, hope something turns up soon.

2 NSDs in a row but really must have a cook-in. Can't seem to work up the enthusiasm though...think the gloomy weather is affecting me today. So I must pull myself together and get on with something constructive. Hope everyone is doing well on their GC this month. Noticed MrS is still selling large Cauli's at around £2.59p and Rhubarb for £3.50 odd:eek: Think I'll do without. Still on the bright side the garden veggies are growing away well and we are already picking lettuce and radish and some herbs. The broad beans look strong too, so hopefully we will be picking some very soon.

    Have a good day everyone.

Got in a bottle of milk from corner shop, but that will see us through the weekend as tomorrow I'm having my wisdom teeth out, so will be on the weetabix and scrambled egg diet. So, a cheap weekend food wise, as BF will make homemade curry and noodles and things I don't generally eat.

I'm keeping positive about the job search as I have quite a few nannying and childminding friends keeping their ears out for any mention of people needing someone, plus I've put adverts up on a few sites as well. So, all in all it means I've not tucked into any of my cooking chocolate or the giant box of icing sugar which was screaming to be eaten yesterday!

Dinner today is stir fried chicken and veggies and will be making some salad for my lunch with pitta bread.

£2.95 spent on bananas for dh and 2 belfast baps for luches tomorrow. Popped into the greengrocer on the way home from work thus avoiding the MrT or MrS scenario.

Just a quick update I spent £2.35 in Wilkinson's this morning on gerbil food and cling film. Have updated signature already.

Ali_at_achnamara - There is a thread on lunchbox ideas on here which may be useful coming up with ideas for your husbands lunches ;) As far as meat goes I use 500g of mince to make a chilli or similar for 6 of us as it can be padded out with extra grated, hidden veggies. But if it's a casserole or similar I'll use a bit more like 100g per person although my elder sons will eat more than the youngest :D I use a pack of 4 chicken breasts for all of us in things like curry, sweet & sour etc I rarely do a meal of say grilled chicken breast, potatoes & veg as it would mean using 6 of them IYSWIM? Hope my ramblings help :rotfl:
  • Have updated sig, did a huge shop today and spent £128.57 of my £180 budget. Think I did well though, got enough baby milk and nappies and wipes to last around 6 weeks.

Will have to top up with milk, bread, fruit and veg and yoghurts throughout the month, but the £50 odd quid left in the budget should more than cover that :D

Have a good day all x
