Afternoon ladies and gents! And Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs Taplady - congratulations and enjoy your F&C's later. If you were intending to combine your meal with your "A La Hester" present then mind where you put the flask.....;) :D

Pen-pin - hope you're feeling a bit more comfortable now that the nurse has been. This damp weather won't be helping any I bet. Hopefully we'll get a bit more sunshine from here on.
Ladymay enjoy France, and glad to hear that Mr Potential is still, well, full of potential!
welcome to Lucy*locket and any more newbies I've missed. All welcome here, the more the merrier!

DW was on overnight so emptied that first thing - had scrambled eggs with Tattie scones (potato cakes) for breakfast - the eggs need using up before we go away and there were 8 left in the box.....four scrambled, two into muffins, and the other two will be hard boiled to go into a fish pie. The tattie scones were reduced to 9p in Tesco last night and we love them so I bought all three packs that were there! Then took OH to get his hair cut, dropped him off and went to Mum & Dad's to collect the cold box from them - we borrow it when we go on holiday - took Mum over some daffs from the garden - they are going over a bit really but it's a splash of colour. Picked OH up (very smart!) and went into town - to Boots for what he called "women's things!" - have tried their basics liners for the first time - thought they were worth the gamble of 29p so will let you know what I think (sorry N9eav, salopman et al!), the bank, Millets to get the detergent free wash for our waterproofs, and a few more places too. Poundland have an excellent range of bulbs at the moment - got a couple of packs and will probably get more once we're back.

Back home, made muffins (Chocolate chip & macadamia nut) and gave the kitchen a good scrub once OH had gone off to rugby. He's taken the car so will save me having to go and get him later...I had no plans to go out anyway. Just had soup, roll and one of the muffins for lunch and plan to spend the afternoon drinking tea and browsing on here in between frantic flylady HHC's to get the housework dealt with! Also need to sort out my camera bag prior to going away, and work out what can be packed where. :o

    Have a good afternoon all!

    Afternoon all

Up early this morning (not by choice, just can't sleep late!!!) been out to do some food shopping and got a couple of £10 deals in M&S. Got a £7 chicken amongst it :j

Came home and made some rock cakes, hung the washing upstairs as weather is very tempramental at the mo. Small pile of ironing out of the way and changed the beds so am having a sit down now and a mooch around on here.

Nice to see you back Aussie

Hello again, what a miserable day it is outside now. Just got back from taking my dog for a walk, couldn't handle two today so OH will have to take his! Think I went out in time as it is just starting to chuck it down as I type.

OH went for the interview as Sales Van Driver - however the job was very strange. It was selling meat and fish door to door and you had to work on commission and no basic wage, plus pay for your own petrol. If you don't sell all the food before it goes out of date you might have to pay the company 700/800 pounds each time. So he came back feeling quite demoralised. First interview he has had since mid Jan and there is nothing out there. I have tried to convince him to work in McD's but he won't even for just an interim period of time whilst looking for another job. Luckily MY parents are helping us with bills starting next month but I feel soooo guilty for them having to help but I really do appreciate it. Just feels like we have no money and all my money goes straight out on rent, car loan and phone bill etc :(

To make it worse we went to get a coffee today and my OH went to put the food shopping in the car whilst I went to order for some reason he thought I was getting a takeaway whilst I was sat with two coffees in the shop for about half an hour looking like an idiot!! So now we have had an arguement as he was sat in the car outside and didn't come in. What a day.

Hope you are all having a better day than me.
  • Afternoon OS friends! hi.gif

Taplady - congrats.pngto you both on your anniversary!
Blondy24 - Good luck to your OH with his interview today
Squiggles - I got two HUGE ham hocks from the butchers. They were frozen and just £2 each. I have never cooked them before but think I am going to boil one for an hour and then roast in the oven for a couple.
Penpin, JackieO, moggins and Smokeybabe *big hugs*
LadyMay - Have fun in France hon!

I got to speak to Tristan last night! He logged on for 40 mins and then just vanished again without any goodbye, but I am getting used to that. I think he runs out of energy and falls asleep and the nurse just turns off his puter for him. He insists he is getting better every day. I so wish that was so.

Last night I made a huge bowl of popcorn and home made toffee sauce and sat and ate til I thought I would go pop. I was comfort eating I know but it was rather delicious!

We defrosted some turkey left over from christmas and I had coronation turkey rolls for lunch today. Tonight will be home made steak slice/pasty thing.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekends.

Warm gentle hugs hugs.gif to everyone who needs or wants one - do something nice for yourself today.

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

    Afternoon all

Weather is not nice at all today, heavy showers (though quite far apart) and the wind is freezing!

Have had a very busy day today, cleaned from top to bottom with help from OH, have been to local market for fruit and veg and a birthday card for DS-S. Wm now on its 3rd load, damp washing on airers (no chance of getting it dry outside today), bm on and a cherry cake and weetabix cake in oven as I type, just hobnobs left to bake and then I am done.

Tea tonight is M&S dine in deal paella which we absolutely love, and as we are on our own this evening have set dining room table complete with candles!! Wine chilling in fridge - think we deserve a treat after working so hard today.

DD is freezing on Lake Windemere in a boat - she is on a girlie weekend and is having a great time, keeps texting me to tell me how good it is!!!!

Congratulations Taplady and Mr Taplady on your anniversary.

Blondy probably just the disappointment re the job making you short with each other - don't let it spoil your weekend!

((((((Hugs)))))) to all who need or want them - enjoy your weekend

    xxxxxx
Penpin hope you feel better soon.

Were invited round a friends tonight but think will decline, have had so many hetic weekends lately just looking forward to being at home with nothing on.

Well so far today I've done almost nothing but run about after the dog. My OH left a full block of butter out on the bench after breakfast  , the dog jumped up on the bench, knocked it on the floor and ate it! She's now been sick 3 times. I've put her in the kitchen and left the back door open so she can go out into the yard, but she doesn't like the wind so she's been sick on the kitchen floor instead of outside.

She should get a nice glossy coat though! :D

  • Hi all, hope this finds everyone well today.
Happy anniversary to TapLady and Mr TapLady(Lord?)

The fish pie was a good choice as Mrscat didn't get back till gone eight and was shattered. Also her mouth is a real mess and still very sore.
I made blueberry pancakes for brunch today, they tasted fine but looked nothing like the recipe photo:eek: :rotfl: (think mutant cow pat rather than work of art)

Tonight will be .............a surprise as Mrs CM is cooking(her choice honest) she has got some stuff she got from a farmers market she found so I have no idea.

She will have to leave quite early tomorrow so we are going to have a quiet evening just us, our cats, a bottle of wine and some CD's. As I said roll on Thursday(I know that is selfish)

Well I had better go and tear myself away from the computer. I really must avoid the pet boards as I always end up far too wound up. So my aim is to now avoid that board.(well try anyway)
I hope everyone has a nice peaceful evening. Regards to all especially those with worries/illness/stress.

Well it could have been worse, it could have been the other end :D

We have had a nice day, went into town, dd and friend went off and OH and I wandered around the charity shops having a browse, then we had a nice lunch out, so we wont want much for tea, just a sandwich will do. Bought myself some new trainer socks and some knickers from m + s, got some seeds for the garden, lettuce, cue's and runner beans cant wait to get them going :T . Came home and managed to grab the washing in just before it started raining so washing is just about dry and on the airer now.

Going to settle and watch come dine with me now, then have a glass or two tonight  have good evenings all xx

    Hi there!

Sorry I've not been on yet today, we've been spring cleaning the house! I've been doing true OS cleaning though, we used old coke on the limescale down the loo, and it really seems to have worked! Really put me off drinking the stuff!

I made a roast chicken as well, which we have now eaten a bit of, and managed to get enough meat off the carcass for two more meals at least (plus a round of sandwiches probably!). The carcass is now in my slow cooker making stock (its the first time I've used it and I keep taking the lid off - someone tell me off!).

I got Paul McKenna's "I can make you lose weight" last night with some vouchers I had as well, and managed to read the whole thing last night (its really short!). Has anyone else read it? Really obvious techniques, but it makes a lot of sense, and I'm going to give it a try over the next few weeks and see if it works (he basically says we should eat what we want, but only eat when hungry and stop the moment you feel full). Bit dubious about eating anything I want, but I can see the logic if you only have it in small portions.

Anyway, got to go and peek under the lid of my slow cooker again, so ciao for now! :D x
