OS Daily Saturday 28th March

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 28th March 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning everyone!
am up early to go to work with DH and help him out on some of his milkround today. It is our 21st wedding anniversary today:love: not got much planned yet.
I havent read yesterdays thread so hope is all ok. Have a great weekend all, I'll be back later to catch up with everything.

Take care x
Do what you love :happyhear

congratulations TapLord and Lady - have a fun day.

Up early too - no idea why - probably to savour the quiet. Oh the luxury of making a single cup of tea at a time and not five :) dd(19) must have had a quiet night at home too. She's been having trouble from an ex and its brought on anxiety attacks and a mass exodus to mine for a couple of weeks. The police have managed to locate him though and warned him off - if he continues to harass her he will be charged.

Anyhoo its a big family football derby today and my dbro is coming up to the game with his partner. I don't know if they're staying at mine or not - depnds on if we're still talking after the match. I will make up beds just in case and dig out the pizza hut code if it's still working. other than that it looks nice enough for gardening and outside drying this morning

    have a good day everyone

    Morning peeps

Brr - quite cold and windy here with the odd shower of rain so far, i slept like a baby last night and woke before the alarm went off at 4am, Mr Sunny did the same and he got up at the same time as me so the houndies will have an earlier walk than usual.

I put both the wm and dw on before i left the house and the bm had almost finished so DH will get the loaf out when it beeps, i also put an enormous ham hock in the sc so that will be just perfect when i get back later. The last one i had was incredible and was far nicer than the previous two, perhaps its the 20p price increase thats made me appreciate it more

Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Taplady :bdaycake: have a lovely day

Blondy24 - good luck to your OH with his interview today

    Aussie - :hello:

Hopefully later i shall get the ironing done that i had planned to do yesterday and make some soup with the stock from the sc. I watered the seeds that are dotted around the house on my windowsills this morning and i`m pleased to say that some more are peeping throught he soil :D I have a courgette that needs re-potting and a tub with three tomato plants in which now need splitting, i`m sure that i only planted one seed in there.

Fishcakes spicy wedges and peas for tea tonight so i`m looking forward to that for a nice change, i have no idea whats for dessert so i shall have a look through the recipe threads for something quick and simple later.

Have a good day peeps, i shall pop back later.

    Good Morning Everyone!
Taplady - congratulations to you both! Hope you have a lovely day.
Stefejb - must be very worrying re your DD, hope the harrassment stops at once.
Well, the jetlag is beginning to go and I feel I have more energy today. Need to get to the supermarket early to lay in supplies for the w/e - my sister and brother-in-law will be here well before lunchtime, and I'm not quite organised yet! WM is on (again!) and I've been cleaning mirrors and surfaces this morning. Need to damp-mop the floors next - where does all the dust come from? Silly question realy - we have two dogs and a cat! Slow-cooker on later as we plan to be out for a good deal of the day, despite the cold and rain.
I hope you all have a good day, and am sending ((HUGS)) to all who could do with one today.
Morning Sunnyday - you crept in while I was typing!

  • Morning all,

Happy Anniversary Taplady & lord!! Hope you have a lovely day (after the milkround).
Stefjb, it is heavenly having the house to yourself sometimes isn't it, glad you're enjoying it...
    Welcome home Beemuzed :)
Sunnyday - did you get the ham hocks at a butchers, or are they in the supermarkets too? It's something I want to get.

Feels like Sunday today as I was off yesterday. Got studying to do (as always!) but will give bathroom a clean-through first, and noticed that some dusting definitely needs doing....!!! DW on at the moment & will put a wash on after that as it's dry out.

Catch up later, (((((hugs))))) for all those needing them.

Squiggly i got them from the butchers stall at a local market but most butchers should have them. In the supermarket i find that they sell them already cooked and it`s only the pork ones that are uncooked.

They are lovely roasted but i prefer to slowcook them and them scrape the fat off whilst still warm and then take the meat off the bones. I cool the liquid and skim the fat off for a lovely soup base. They have just gone up in price to £1.68 but they are still worth the price.

  • Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Taplady.....wow 21yrs:T .....saying that, its our 16th this year:eek:

I am just waiting on the nurse getting here as Im quite alot of pain again. This weather doesnt help. OH bless him, helped me shower early on as I couldnt lift my arms. I hate mornings like this, but will muddle on and quit moaning:D

DD cooked streaky bacon in the Remoska and scrambled eggs for breakfast but couldnt eat much. She also made some cheese scones last night which were devine!

DD off with friends later-so a peaceful day.

WM has been on and DW emptied. House clean and tidy. Need to use up the rest of the sweet potatoe, carrots, onions and swede and make a soup later for the freezer. DD loves it.

    Anyway, have to go.

    Hugs to all.

    Morning all
Haven't read yesterdays thread yet, I'll do it in a sec.
Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs Tap.
I think I'll spend the weekend with my head buried in the sand, there has been a huge bust up between BIL1 & BIL2 & hubby is getting phone calls from them both. It looks like BIL1 may want to move back in, I think I've got a polite way to say 'Over my dead body'.
Apart from that we don't have many plans this weekend, if it stays chilly & damp we won't go far, though we do need to get hubby some new polo shirts & a pair of boots.
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Had an odd day here weather wise. Showers and then sunshine. Made some bran muffins & lentil cottage pie this morning. Had it for tea & it was lovely. Used sweet potato  of course for the top. I stirred in some sour cream when I was mashing & it tasted lovely. Did some weeding in the yard this arv & got bitten on both legs by some ants when I was kneeling on the grass for my efforts.

DH with his BIL has got into the family tree bug. I downloaded a free program to put all the info on so I will probably start on that during the week. Lots of skeletons but no royalty so far. :D

Taplady Happy Anniversary. Time flies doesn't it.

Well off for a bit of a surf & then shower. Enjoy your day. Byeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
