Im going to go look at the different models, theres a huge price difference in them, ranging from around £160 to over £400. I will do a little homework to find out whats the differences in them :-)
I know! I have looked at the difference between then KM001, KM003, KM005 and i just can't work out what the difference is other than the motor speed. I don't see how the different motor speeds can justify the massive price differences between the models.
Also i 'inherited' a A701A kenwood chef but none of the new attachments fit it. SO i have a very old machine that works but no attachments. Does anyone know which attachments would fit a A701A machine and the KM machines?0 -
It does seem odd that the only difference is the motor speed and maybe an extra electric point, yet the price difference is huge!
A lot of the people who rave about these machines are using the older ones that have a motor speed of around 500w so surely then, even the cheapest KC will be brill............. or do people know something I dont?
PS has anyone used it for mashed potatoes, are they soft and fluffy?
Edited to add: Zziggi very kindly told me I could do mash with the K beater, I just wondered if anyone did it? I tried mashing mine with an ordinary mixer (like Delia does) but found the spuds to be lumpy0 -

I'm sure there was a post earlier in the year, I think, showing a website that sold parts for the older Kenwood machines. I'll see if I can find it
can't find it -:(0 -
The site would have been this one:-

i bought a kenwood chef classic its a dark grey colour with a stainless steel bowl. Brand new it cost me £140.oo from costco and the motorspeed is 700 watts. you can get a white version which is cheaper, a while ago makro had one for £100+vat.
Kenwood has now taken a newer model with 1000watt engine and that is around £200.00 or just a little bit under at costco.
my mums got the older white with a black strip and that works just the same as my model. Another thing to consider is you do need space on the worktop because it is a big machine and more often than not when something takes too much space you tend to put it away which of course defeats the purpose of buying the item in the first place, and the kenwood is bulky and quite a heavy machine that you can't take out every time you want to mash some potatoes it has to be on the work top all the time to make maximum use out of it, a little like the bread maker i guess!!hth
Another place to look for a kenwood is in the house of fraser blue cross sales, when i bought mine they were selling one for£175 in the sales so it is worth while to look around in the christmas sales.0 -
