I don't have time for that - If I upset people when I don't mean to then I suppose they will get over it - like I do when people upset me.
You can't please everyone all the time. and everyones sense of humour is different.
You shouldn't have to change to please other people.

My comment of "some people are big fat meanies" was a lighthearted comment meant in jest. It's a bit different from someone replying to someone who is struggling to get out of debt by saying - well it's your fault you shouldn't have spent so much stupid - for example.0 -

I'm a big fat meanie and wasn't in any way offended by minnie's quotes. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

Ok, but one of the points in your original message was people misinterpreting what you say and a good way to avoid that is not to write things that can easily be misinterpreted.
"I don't have time for that", OK then you take the consequences.
"You can't please everyone all the time", you can try and there is a middle ground between pleasing and upsetting.
"You shouldn't have to change to please other people", I imagine some people (not you) might use that as an excuse for some extreme behaviour and again same point about middle ground as above.0 -
I totally agree that something needs to be one about people on this site who bully and are nasty to others, ive noticed it particularly in posters who have high thread counts, and im not saying all are like this, but these posters seem to think that because they have so many thousands of thanks it gives them carte blanche to go treating others any way they like and i think if this is not stamped out here then decent posters will leave.I know for myself i will not be posting as much on this site because of this. There is a definate pack mentality among this group of bullys,it starts with one then before you know it a dozen or more come along to put the boot in.What about a black mark next to their thanks counts each time they are nasty or are reported for being so, this would then show others on MSE who to avoid and would shame the bullies.0

I wouldn't say that Parliament have created a law that meant you could take ownership of something because someone made a genuine mistake - instead I'd argue that they've neglected to create a law to prevent this happening (subtle difference). It probably needs repealing and replacing with legislation more suited to the age of online retailing.I not sure though about expecting the man in the street to understand Parliament's intentions0

Take the consequences?? I am waiting for the big fat meanie police to turn up and take me away!!
There is a difference between other people not getting you and bullying. The other people not getting you thing is always going to happen and maybe that is more the readers fault than the poster.
Bullying is a different kettle of fish altogether - there is no excuse for that.
I think most people can see a distinct difference between the two.0 -
Am going to be pedantic here ...ive noticed it particularly in posters who have high thread counts, and im not saying all are like this, but these posters seem to think that because they have so many thousands of thanks
Do you actually mean high thread counts, or high post counts ... or high thanks? They are three very different things.I know for myself i will not be posting as much on this site because of this.
Why do people say this when it is blatantly not true?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Just my 2p but if I don't like a comment someone has posted I tend to check their previous posts.
The nasty folk tend to be nasty to everyone so once you know what they're like you can just bung them on ignore and forget about them.
In odd cases I will report posts which I know some people don't like but hey its a free country!
If someone has posted an unkind comment to a 'new' poster I tend to add a short post telling them that the person is generally unpleasant to everyone and not to take it to heart.
Most of the 'regulars' on here can give as good as they get!0 -

I mean high thanks counts.Answer to your 2nd question,in my case it will be true.0 -

Surely a high thanks count would point to a person being helpful/ friendly most of the time? Perhaps you have just noted these people on bad days - we all have them!
It should also be noted that, what some people find to be 'nasty' or 'bullying', others will find to be perfectly normal. Admittedly there are some posters that set out to be nasty, but in the majority it is just a difference in opinion.Gone ... or have I?0
