Aaarrgghhh - only yesterday I did the switchy thingy - to Powergen Age Concern rate. Do I stay or do I cancel? Does the comparison site take these rises into account already or do they just work at today's rates?
Mutter grumble.

Makes you wonder when it will all stop and I think government should start to do something about it.What next will it be 50-75% as they seem to be able to do what they want with us0

Hi folks
I can understand the distress. As I've noted in the past few weeks in the tip ONLY those who've never switched before (ie british gas for gas and their regional elec company for elec) should be switching right now.
If that was you then even if you moved to powergen as it was the cheapest, you should still be better off - as the rest of the ones who now look cheaper will soon raise their prices.

Taking Martin's advice as a Powergen customer I am going to wait a while until everyone else has announced their price increases.
Interesting I tried to get onto the Powergen website to get my usage figures for when I do the comparison and the site has crashed !!! I switched to scottish power and shortly after I switched, they announced 15% rise in gas and 8% rise in electricity. I am glad I didn`t panic into withdrawing as they may well end up being one of the cheaper providers. This weekend I was speaking with a friend who's the editor of a respected energy industry newspaper. Their analysis is that prices have now peaked and will start to reduce again in the coming months. They advised not to lock yourself into an inflexible capped tariff and ride this period out.0
