Interesting I tried to get onto the Powergen website to get my usage figures for when I do the comparison and the site has crashed !!! Obviously everyone deciding to check their account / usage and look at switching.
Powergens own calculator won't give you figures if you are a Powergen customer, one of it's excellent 'features'
You have to 'call them to find out just which excellent tarrif would suit you' 0 -

There are lots of people struggling to pay these bills, but these companies continue to make record profits year after year.
They may go on about the increases in the wholesale costs, but these companies are the wholesalers. By setting high wholesale prices, they minimise any chance that smaller (retail only) competition can survive, whilst ensuring big profits from their production facilities - the petrol companies have been doing this for years...
It's about time this situation was investigated. :mad:0 -
If you are a powergen customer it is cheaper to get it capped than take the rise. Capping is more expenesive but not as much as 25%. The capped rate applies to 2010 and you can come out when you want if the price falls.0

I just got off the phone from them enquiring about switching to capped deal.
Current Powergen capped deal runs out today. Existing customers wont be able to sign up to it. They can sign up to "version 8" capped deal which starts tomorrow.
The guy reckoned my electric would be approx £100/yr more and gas would be £135/yr more. I reckon that'll be more than staying as I am with the new hike.
Anyone else looked at this?*************************

we are with powergen. i struggled with what to do a few weeks back, but i phoned enquired and decided to risk paying a bit extra to cap the prices, am so glad i did that now!
With regard to the wholsale prices etc, i reckon we are already paying more for much of our everyday stuff, my grocery bills have gone up recently, production costs and shop overheads as well probably! mind you these shops are warm these days, warmer than my house!!!trying hard to count my blessings while surrounded by idiots :O)0 -
I was going to cap ages ago, wish i had now, I am with powergen at the moment, but will look in to swaping in a month or so, if only to get the cashback that will pay for a months fuel!
Might just use logs instead wonder if that works out any cheaper?Pawpurrs x

I wonder if Powergen will offer some sort of help for pensioners and those on low incomes like British Gas did?

Those who have young children and pensioners cannot turn the heat down.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4
