Everyday I park at a local train station car park, and use a telephone service to pay for one days parking. Today I forgot to call until my lunch break, around 12.30

I got back to my car this evening, and I had a "Civil Parking Notice" for £50, issued at 10.30. The "Civil Parking Notice" is from APCOA

I know I forgot, but should I pay the fine? I think my case is a bit different from the others here, because I didn't have a valid ticket at the time the attendant checked.

Its a scam ignore their ticket and baseless threats, they will go away if you don't respond to them!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Doesn't matter if you didn't have a ticket because the WHOLE thing is a scam whether you've allegedly contravened or not. Ignore ALL private parking co tickets, only take notice if you are ever sent real Court papers (so rare as to be practically extinct).

Ignore all threatograms talking about CCJs, Court, yadda yadda. You can see pics of the threatogram letters you will receive on the thread near the top of this board 'PPC letters & scams, what to expect'.

    HTH
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I've just received my first letter from Roxburghe, which was addressed to my work address, which is where the mobile phone I used to park with is registered. In the letter they stated that my address has been provided by the DVLA, which is strange as there is absolutely no link whatsoever between my car and my work address and I doubt the DVLA know where I work.

I am sure that is illegal, they have no right to use a different address from the RK , how can they possibly get your work address from your mobile ?

  • :( GW continue to leave messages on my answerphone asking me to contact them - I have had three calls in as many weeks.

Also got a call on Saturday which I unwittingly answered from Roxburgh. I refused to confirm my address and post code and told them never to call me again. The guy hung up - it was clear he was in a call centre....the pestering continues!

mmmm...final response from FGW following my complaint several months ago.......waste of time!!!

"By parking in our car park, you entered into a contract with APCOA, who are the agents of First Great Western. Indirectly you therefore have a contract with us, as the leaseholders of the property.

The penalty notice charge is set at an amount that deters customers from not paying regularly and just paying when receiving a penalty notice. The amount is set to deter tariff evaders, and to encourage parking within bays and discourage inconsiderate parking.

The fine will be upheld on this occasion and I am afraid that there is nothing further we can do to help you. "

Not been able to help at all really.
Continue to annoy them by ignoring and they will give up soon, you're nearly at the end of the paper trail.
