KeyHomes East - Mychoice Homebuy scheme

Hi all,

This is only my second posting, so apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong place!

I'm currently applying for funding through KeyHomes East (as I'm sure many of you are) and have been concerned by the lack of communication. I know they have a slight backlog, but cannot gain any more information from them than that.

I therefore wanted to be proactive and thought a thread, where we can each list our application date, KHE response time and any other relevant information would be really helpful.

Hopefully, the more people that post, the better idea we will have on when we will hear back.

I'll start off with my details:

Approved for scheme: September 2008

Application for funding/house sent in: 10th March 2009

No response from KeyHomes East so far

Thanks,

Amberlindsay

    Hi,

I got approved for the scheme with Key Homes East at the end of last summer, then they ran out of funding :-(

I found a property on 2nd March and my FA sent my forms off on the 4th March, after waiting for 2 week having heard nothing my FA chased them and they confirmed that my forms had been registered as arriving on the 10th March - six days after posting!

Last Friday they were processing applications up until the 4th of March and confirmed to my FA that mine was in the next pile. My FA suggested that I sit tight until this Friday.

My FA hasn't had anyone turned down ( I am using one of the FA as recommended on the KHE list ) yet and funding is still ok but they are swamped with applications hence the really long delay.

When I set my forms off I was told applications were taking 7 to 10 days but the number of applications has risen dramatically.

From your post I am guessing that you are a week behind me, so it could be about a week and a half I am afraid - this is of course if mine comes through early next week.

I know how hard the wait is - I am getting hassled every other day by both my estate agent and my vendors estate agent with just adds to the pressure!

    HTH and good luck!
  • I am in thames valley housing area.

I can't even put application for property approval....
They are just like once funds are available, then they will inform us and then we can put offer on a property.

Any one else with thames valley?

    I was accepted last year.

have a look at this about shared ownership

It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Geoffky - thanks for the link but I don't think that any of us on this thread are buying a shared ownership place - we are apply for my choice homebuy which is loan with minimal interest to act as a deposit until you sell the property.

Whilst I acknowledge that I might never own the whole of my property, is it any different from owing both a mortgage and possibly a secured loan with a 35 term - you don't own that either for 35 years!

    Hi,

Thanks for the info - I just phoned them again today; they are just finishing up on the 9th March applications and will be starting on applications received on the 10th March, later today. Apparently my application was received on 11th March and is half way down the pile...fingers crossed that we both hear back within the next week (my estate agents and vendors are starting to apply the pressure too!).

Ooh that means that they should be looking at mine now - eek! I hope that we both get put out of our misery soon.

Although I hear that the next stage isn't exactly a joy either

Will let you know when I hear something!

Eve0123 - when did you send your forms back, and was it for initial approval or for approval on a property?
