I have been charged £90 per returned DD by lloyds TSB and since being on mternity leave they have charged me this numerous times so i am delighted to try to ge this ludicrous amount back can you imagine getting £180 bank charges one month for two returned DD? i am less worried about the odd stuipid fee for a letter. This is so much it really left me penniless for a whole month in fairess to lloyds if i have ever called to complain about being charged for something 9 times out of 10 they have actually re imbursed me but i so think it would be great to see them reduce these crippling charges for all - i will do this just in case it makes them see the light; power in numbers if we all try to challenge this massive rip off jo brighton0

Another successful bank charge refund to add to the list!
Got charged £38 from Halifax for accidentally having a direct debit bounced. Wrote, complained and got charges refunded as a 'good will gesture' they said!
Dead easy!0 -
mjanet wrote:Yes you can claim it back but advise you to inform payplan of your intention. If they have defaulted you and the money owed is mainly made up of bank penalties then you can also go to having the default removed,AFTER .

dchurch24 wrote:Check out https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk - the site Martin mentioned - if they 'blacklist' you for closing your account when you have outstanding charges, then they are acting unlawfully.
All is explained over at the CAG site (which is now back up and running).
(lucky for me it was the same judge the set the original VERBAL agreement to pay back the £3,500 in 2 months time intrest free), and a new branch manager "thought ive no verbal agreement with him" and tried to scam me,
Judge remembered (i`d already paid the original sum back early i might add)
and he claimed the (£800.00 as bridging intrest) i had C A B debt councillor/representative, i won (instantly) received a letter 2 days later
(we dont want your custom) 2 days after this a letter from Royal Bonk of jockland (come and pick up your monies) we dont want your buisness,
I asked C A B advisor about this (he said its there own buisness whats on a blacklist) you can see what they have on you "but can`t do didley about it
as long as its the truth (and T R U T H can be stretched a very long way)
after 4 years at N/west 10 years after this case "i still cant get an overdraft".0 -
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew whether reclaiming unfair charges applies to business accounts as well as personal.
We are a small business (just the 2 of us) and have had an account with Lloyds for 3 years (we also took out a loan with them and in order for us to have it had to jump through a few hoops to tie up part of the house thus incurring more 'facility charges' etc).
We have worked out that in that 3 year period we have incurred just over £2000 worth of charges and interest on our day to day account alone. We are now square with the bank and because of the monthly hair-pulling these charges have caused we have decided to move.
I don't think the bank will be too bothered by our shift after all we were never going to make them rich, but £2000 is £2000 and getting at least some of this back would be a great help to us.
Any advice greatly recieved.0 -
i had a capital one credit card & despite many requests that they send me a statement i never recieved one,as these statments had a payment slip at the bottom of them & my not recieving any statments, i could not pay my outstanding balance.
i contacted capital one on many occasions & was promised a statment.
i then started to recieve phone calls from somebody who said that i had an account with them but they could not discuss it until i had confirmed my date of birth,my postcode & on one occasion, my telephone number(they telephoned me!!so they already know my telephone number!!.
i asked the person to state the name of the company that they were representing & was refused this basic information.
i then said i would not confirm any details unless i knew who i was talking to(data protection act in play here to protect me,.....after all, it protects the consumer as well as the companies.)i also said,if this is capital one,you have my address & details,so please send me a bill so that i can pay it, this was refused as i would not confirm my details.
i have since moved house & written to capital one to inform them of this & also the change of telephone number,i have as yet not recieved any postal or telephone contact from them.0 -
Thanks to the second person this year who's sat on my cheque for weeks then decided to pay it in on the one day I don't have enough in my account and have forgotten to check it online (not joking, the only day this has happened  ), and of course on the same day that a paypal DD for under a fiver went out, I have now racked up £120 of charges.
Been reading this site for a while but this has finally pushed me into action. Will have to wait a few weeks for yesterday's charges to actually show up on my account but thought I'd get organised in the meantime!
My main question is: as it's not that great a sum should I send a friendly letter of request or just go straight in with the template from CAG? I'm a bit rubbish on the phone and always seem to end up accidentally agreeing it's my fault or something (Tesco Car Insurance - I'm talking to you  ) so I don't want to try ringing them. I'm with Nationwide if anyone's got any experience with them?
Many thanks for such an ace website!0 -
Wonder if could beg some help - trying to get back over £1900 back from FirstDirect and with the great advice from the site have used TheConsumerActionGroup - unfortunately my computer doesn't have Excel and I'm having to work out the additional interest on OD charges with pen paper and calculator.
Could some kind person check my maths and see that it is sound?
OD charge of £30 on 10th of month
salary paid in 25th of month
Unauthorised OD fee 19.9% APR
Calculations:
Daily interest - 19.9/365=0.0545205
Interest to be charged - 30/100x0.0545205x15days = 0.2453415
The princely sum of 25 pence!
Many Thanks0 -
Part 2. Recieved 44 letters in the post today from Lloyds TSB, statements. I suppose it's to put people off. Better get started.0

Do you know RBS is telling customers that they face a £10 charge for each page- imagine that, a bank lying!!! Also, since the ruling that these charges are unlawful, does that make the imposition of a charge. since that ruling, theft?0
