Hi,
I received a letter from the halifax offering me part payment of my total £1300 bank charges. I wrote back and refused this part payment and asked for the full £1300, now after reading advice I should have accepted the part payment on the basis that I would receive the remaining amount owed to me. If I progress further by taking legal action will this effect my claim because I have refused the part payment?
Thanks0 -
Can they stop your mortgage do you know please? I have a joint mortgage with my mum and worried my claim will effect it?0

I,m just about to take a few credit card companies to task as they have really hammered me in the past but I am worried. I still owe them more than I am able to afford to pay off should they close my account and demand repayment in full. Is this a scenario that I should be worried about?0

No it won't effect your claim because you have refused the part payment as the letter that you might have seen is only accepting the amount as a "part payment" of the full amount that they are claiming.0 -

Thank you for the invaluable advice on unlawful bank charges, i have put it to good use with success! I recently transfered banks from Abbey to Halifax to include all direct debits.Unfortunately this has not gone smoothley and a few have been unpaid . One such was a DD with Cahoot. for a fixed loan. After much buck passing between Cahoot and the Halifax,I informed Cahoot ,who had debited my new bank account of £30 charge missed payment, that they had committed an unlawful act , in point of fact, stolen my £30, that I had downloaded a Small Claims Court form to start proceedings. They told me to do so and ended the converstion. Ten mins later they phoned back to say a refunded £30 cheque was in the post, as A "GOOD WILL GESTURE". yeah right!I also told them my next loan application woud not be to them! RESULT! ta v. much Martin (Saint)0
