    Hello,
I hope someone can help me?
I am trying to claim back £1400 from HSBC, I have sent the first letter and the second letter with the spread sheet but they are saying they will not refund me my charges.
Should I pay the £120 to moneyclaim, and if so do you think HSBC will pay up?
At the moment HSBC are charging me £125 every month and they make me over drawn and then do it again the following month!

How long since you sent the Letter Before Action? Go to the Moneyclaim stage 14 days later. They've just paid me in full. It's a little bit scary at this point, but hang in there.

  • Hi All
I am new here but need some advice.
Bothmy husband and i have been a customer with LTSB for over 21 yrs. we each have individual accounts and a joint account together ans a credit card each with lloyds.
We had an overdraft facility of £9000 on our joint account, i have £2500 on my current account and my husband £4500 on his current account, and a limit of £5000 each on our credit cards. at the sign of problems, we were discarded by the bank we had been loyal to over the years.
We had some problems last year , husband out of work for a while and many more.and got into some financial difficulties. we have some equity in on our house and we approached our bank for a remortgage. they took almost 2 months to get back to us despite calling repeteadly. eventually we were declined. at one point i arranged to see my bank manager and the best advice she could give me was to use my credit cars to pay off some of our bills.
We eventually decided to go through debt management to manage all our debts. In the process we had some arrears on some of our account and egg is taking us to court in order to put their charge on our property. and our bank lloyds has threathned to take us to court as well
Our debt manager is schedule to start paying off all our creditors this month.
over the past 7-8 years or so we have incurred quite a lot of bank charges and overdraft charges.
My question is could we still make a claim for all the unfair bank charges despite our present circumstance with the bank?
    many thanks

  • After sending my list of charges and the letter asking for them back. I initially received a letter saying sorry about your complaint we'll look into it, it will take up to 4 weeks. Then two days leter I received another letter saying they have carried out a full investigation and they cannot refund me the whole amount but as a good will gesture will refund me £220.00. I am trying to claim back £4300.00. They have said the charges are not unlawful. Not sure where to go from here. Do I send the letter, refusal of settlement or does this not apply to a "good will gesture". HELP!!!!!!!!!!I was doing ok up till now.

    Thanks

  • Hi there I have just received a letter back regarding a refund on my bank charges, they only took 6 days to reply but they state they cannot give me a refund as it was assured that their charges are reasonable. They also state that it is not on bank account but on credit cards and as such the OFT have not entered into any discussion regarding the banking industry and when they do then they will get back to me. They say they cannot accept I have been unfairly charged and there fore they regret they are unable to agree to my request of my refund. They also say that the charges have been raised correctly in line with the terms and conditions of my account.
I was originally with the Giro bank and had no problems with them at all, then Alliance and Leister took over then they were charging for evrything, we use to get postage free for any correspondants but now we have to pay.
I am not sure now what to do, do I send the next letter asking for the refund one more time, HELP not sure as I have been very ill and over the past 6 years I am claiming over 2,000 back.
  • Have a read of Martin's article for the step by step guide then sign up for the CAG forums and check out the individual boards for the relevant banks that you are claiming from :)

Don't accept such a small good will gesture, had it been nearer to the amount claiming it might have been worth accepting to save any more hassle but that is a bit of an insult.

I have just sorted out my first letter, asking the bank to send me the list of charges, but do I send £10 per account or just one payment of £10?
I'm enquiring about 2 TSB accounts.
