Many Thanks0 -
hi, yes she is entitled to claim it back. if it is the first an only one though you are better off going to the bank and just asking they wiil usually just give the first few back without an argument. otherwise if your mother doesnt feel happy doing this just let me know and i will gladly write her a letter.

Ok - it's me again! Have been searching for an address and phoning everywhere like a woman possessed. Either way I am struggling to obtain an address here in England - despite the fact that the Bank of Scotland is now the Halifax Bank of Scotland. They are insistant that any correspondence goes to an address in Dunfermline. GGGrrrrrrr!
In the meantime I have also discovered that the AA Visa Card we hold is also from .. yes ... you guessed it.. The Bank of Scotland - Head Office based in! They sent a letter a couple of months ago with regard to a late payment, however the address is in Halifax - the collections dept.... Would I be able to use this one. The only thing I would say, is that the footnote on the bottom of the letters from the AA and the Bank of Scotland state "The Govenor and Company of the Bank of Scotland constitued under an Act of Paliament 1695. Head Office: The Mound Edinburgh, EH1 1YZ. The Bank of Scotland Credit Card Services is in Dunfermline.....
Any advice would be sssssssssssooooooooooo appreciated!0 -

hiya, issue your claim against the branch itself, i presume that is in england and that is where the conrtact was signed so it will be governed by english law in england. same with the AA unless it was done over the internet, and even then the address where you send your payments would proably be in England.0 -
Thanks Shaun for the advice my mum is going in first thing tomorrow morning to try and sort it out,I'll take you up on the letter if she doesn't get the charges refunded though,if that is ok.Thanks once again.0

Hi, sorry to sound stupid, but just wanted to double check what you can claim. I understand you can claim for when the bank charges you £30-odd for bouncing a cheque or direct debit, but what about the interest and service charges which are charged at the end of each month. I assume those charges are considered fair, but just wanted to check before I send off my letter - 'in for a penny' and all that!0
