    We have had some charges refunded,as a 'gesture of goodwill,' when we have challenged the Halifax,but I know there are some that they haven't refunded in the past,despite challenging them.

    Would we be able to get those back?

    One thing.We have just re-mortgaged with the Halifax in the last couple of weeks,and the wife is now worried they will start acting funny against us,if we pursue compensation.

    I've just dipped over my overdraft with a&l twice in a week and they have charged me 2x£25 for each of the transactions £50 in total, I was only overdrawn for a few days!

    What's the chances of me getting this refunded? If I write them a letter and is there a "template letter" anywhere on the forum i can use?, also i can add that when I switched to them they cocked up some direct debits and i got charged by one of the companies for non payment...

    Not impressed with a&l, VERY slow to transfer payments which is possibly where they make their money to be able to offer such good rates....

    Thanks in advance

  • I have paid a lot in bank charges over the last few years, can somebody please advise me as I would really like to claim these back off my current account but I also have my mortgage with the same company and I am scared in case it would affect this.
  • Question;
    seven years ago I went through a divoice which cost me dearly in charges. I closed the account and they put the account with a collecting company.Can I claim from them as the amount would surely clear my debt to them?:confused:

    Hi, I've never posted anything on here - I've been quite lazy but have taken some excellent advice from this fab website and would only be too happy to share with you my experience regarding the bank charges saga

    I contacted my Aunt a couple of months ago and told her that she was able to claim back charges over the last 6 years. I requested her statements and drew up a quick spreadsheet to analyse all the various charges and fees. These amounted to just over £3,000! Anyway, I wrote the letter to her bank as though it was from her and requested these charges were refunded - they refused. So i issued a 14 day letter to demand the money back otherwise they would be taken to court. We received a reply to say it was being taken up with their Head Office and would get back in touch by 10th Sept!! How bad is that?! I'm unsure whether I should wait for a reply or send a Court order in the meantime?? Can anyone help at all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Many thanks
    Andy :-))
