Zig do you mind me asking why you're saving for a house before finishing paying off the debt? Given you're so close to clearing it I'd focus on one thing at once. Its not like it will set you back at all in the long run.

I think it's just because I feel a bit bad that my OH is doing all the saving, and I wanted to prove that I'm doing my (small) bit. :o

But I have thought the same as you, so I'll concentrate on the debt first. Bye bye £20 house deposit!

    Payday! :j

I got paid £47 more than I thought I would which is great. So I have paid £25 off Dad's debt, £4.75 to my overdraft (just to bring it to a round number!) and £50 into my Bruges savings. I don't want to pay too much off my debt and make myself short at the end of the month.

I'm just about to do my food shopping online cuz I have a £10 off voucher :)

    Update:

My overdraft is very annoyingly creeping up. Recent purchases include Hills cat food for my cat (£13.50). She has a delicate stomach and this seems to be the only food that doesn't make her ill. I also bought a hard drive, which was a bargain and I needed one, but it's still £35 that I don't really have!

Hopefully I get the £500 bursary in December. If I do, it will pay off the rest of my Dad's debt, then some of my overdraft.

Christmas is very nearly sorted which is great. :santa2: I need to:

*sort out the calenders/photo albums for my Mum and Nan
*buy one more thing for my sister
*get the magazine subscription for my Dad nearer Christmas
*think of a present for my stepmum.

It's my Mum's birthday in a couple of weeks. Cuz we bought her a laptop a few months back she isn't getting anything big. I can't decide between getting her a magazine subscription or something else. Good thing about the magazine subscriptions is that I can get them using my clubcard vouchers! :D

How much are you wanting to spend on your Mum, Zig? Saw this on the grabbit board yesterday. Would make a lovely pressie! Plus it's on their 342 offer so you could grab one for you Stepmum for Christmas and get the 3rd free thing as the extra thing for your Sister.

Not a very MSE thing to say, but you're a student and bound to get into debt so don't feel too bad about the OD. Sounds like it could really be avoided either, I'll keep my fingers crossed over the bursary in December for you!

I was going to say something similar to Cinny. I spent all my student years going in and out of my OD , you do get time to pay it off when you finish and is 0% so not the end of the world. Obviously don't go mad and max yourself out but don't stress over it.

Thanks Cinny, that's a really good deal! And it sorts all the women out at the same time! :D Hopefully they'll be some left when I go to Boots on Saturday.

I think the reason I wanna pay off my overdraft quickly, is so I can say on my 21st birthday that I'm debt free. :o 21 was always seen in my family as being properly adult and so I wanna be debt-free by then.

But financially, I do have 2 years interest free so there is no rush really. I'm glad I don't like going out drinking and stuff otherwise it'd be even worse!

I know it's more money but I'm tempted to buy some more Hills cat food. It's BOGOF in PetsAtHome. At £15 a bag it's much better to stock up when it's on offer!

I'd be tempted too Zig, how long to you figure the bag you just bought will last your Kitty for though? Places like Pets at Home or Jollies normally have offers on Premium Cat food so they might have another offer on when the bag you just bought runs out.

Thanks for the tip on using the Clubcard vouchers to get a magazine subscription, just looked online and found one my Dad would love and it's only £13 for the year. Much cheaper than the one I was looking at in Smiths, just need to boost my Clubcard points a bit!

My cat is really greedy even though she's skinny! (She's Mia on my pics on facebook!) I'm not sure how long this bag will last, cuz the with the last lot she had, the other cats ended up eating it too. I think I'll buy one more lot, then keep track of how long it lasts. Then I'll know the cost per month etc.

The magazine subscriptions are really good value on there aren't they! I'm getting Olive for my Dad and I think it's only like £9! Which is 3 issues if you buy them in the shop. If I see any good ways to get more points I'll let you know :)

Thanks Zig! I think I only have £3ish worth of points to spend instore so need a massive boost to get the £13 in time. Thought I had more than £3, eek!

Might be an idea to get some more of the kitty food then if she eats lots! If it's saving you in the long run it's worth grabbing some bags now.

I think they send out the next lot of vouchers in November so hopefully you'll get enough points in time!

Yeah I think I will just buy one more lot. At least it's there then in case she eats all the first lot!

I was watching True Blood last night and when I saw Bill the vampire I was like oh my god he's gorgeous! Don't think OH appreciated me saying it, ha! :p

I was just searching Google for pics and he only looks good when he's all kinda 'dirty'! Not so good when he's at the premieres and stuff!
