I think I'd be more tempted to do a hot meal for lunchtime on day 1 using a food flask then go for the picnic cold tea in the evening, rather than having to faff around trying to make something hot in a hotel room. For lunch on day 2 I'd just buy stuff that doesn't have to be kept refrigerated to make up sandwiches and keep it in a cool bag in the car in case it's a warm day. Alternatively I would go with the suggestion made about going to Morrisons cafe for tea, they do 2 eat for £x which includes a drink each and then for each paying adult a child eats free including a drink.0

I'm having to be very careful about money currently and I am having to spend the weekend away staying in a hotel Friday to Sunday for a work related course (self funded). Breakfast at the Hotel is almost £14 per day . At a push, for all my breakfasts, lunches and dinners I could possibly stretch to £20 for the whole weekend but I'd like to do it as cheap as I can. I don't have to worry about anyone thinking badly of me being a cheapskate as I'm going to be alone in the hotel.
In the hotel I will have a Kettle. I had thought about taking sachets of porridge for breakfast and possibly some cheap noodles from Aldi but as I've been ill all week with flu, I suppose that processed noodles aren't very healthy?! I will be away throughout the day and we get an hour for Lunch. There is a Morrisons near the course venue and an Asda near the hotel. Has anyone got any advice or tips for how I can eat cheaply for the three days I'm away? I'd be really grateful!0 -
Forgot to say that there is a microwave at the course venue!0

Do you have a coolbox or is there a fridge in the room?
A microwave meal (hm if you have time) with prepped veg for the friday night - shouldn't matter if it hasn't been in a fridge for a few hours - make sure you nuke it well! Fruit for pud.
You could do jacket potatoes with cheese or if you can't keep cheese cold, you can buy tins of tuna already mixed with mayonnaise.
Get some tinned potatoes and make a spanish omelet in the microwave as you don't need to keep eggs in the fridge.
Instant porridge from kettle water
Marmite/peanut butter or dairylea sandwiches - I find butter keeps for a good few days out of the fridge
Be naughty and have a pot noodle one day, if you like them, with fruit
Microwavable puddings
A pack of pastries will be perfect for breakfasts with a piece of fruit/dried fruit etc.
Having morrisons down the road is great - you should be able to eat fine very cheaply.
You could try asking on FB (if you are on it) if anyone you know has one of those mini fridges that you could borrow - just stick it in a holdall if you are embarrassed to carry it in0 -
Hi miss_independent,
Porridge for breakfast will be healthy and should keep you going until lunchtime and if you have an asda near the hotel then you will be able to pick up something for lunch easily and then use your lunch hour to look something suitable in Morrisons for your evening meal
These threads have lots of ideas that should help:

Eating OS while staying in a hotel alone..
I'll add your thread to the first link later.

Thanks so much frugal! I won't have a fridge in the room and not on Facebook but I suppose I could ask around. Once before I bought a pack of pastries for 60p for breakfast so I could do that again! Never thought about tinned puddings but that is a good idea as I tend to get hungry before bed and would have toast or a crumpet before but I could have something like a mullerrice stood in a bowl of hot water to warm!0

What about trying to find cafe which sells Danish pastries and have a cuppa and a Danish there. Beats smuggling food in to make a breakfast in a hotel room.0
