Mugshots are nice (similar but nicer than pot noodles) - I prefer the roast chicken, chicken and mushroom and cheese ones. Thai one is not bad either.

I shouldn't worry too much about eating super healthily for 2 or 3 days. Take a coolbox with fruit, juice, crackers, butter/spread. Use Morrison's and Asda to buy single rolls and a couple of slices of ham, beef, a couple of tomatoes, etc - nothing in packs just individual items - for lunch perhaps with a cup a soup. Breakfast - instant porridge sounds fine - have juice as well. Dinner/Tea - can you ping a ready meal at the venue at that time - if not do it at lunch then have your lunch type meal in the evening? Will you be in the hotel all evening - don't forget snacks and a little mini bottle of wine perhaps.

Lizzy, I think I'm planning on having my main meal at the venue and heating it up.

Mistral, there aren't any local independent style cafes nearby, it's quite a heavy built up industrial/retail park type area and there is no way I'm going to pay £6 for a coffee and Danish in Starbucks when I get free coffee in my hotel room and two Danishes for 67p at Morrissons lol! I'd be taken the Danish in the night before and I think the hotel would be ok with me taking a pastry in lol - its not really smuggling is it :o.

So the way it's looking, it's going to be sachets of Oats So Simple, a pastry or croissant for breakfast, maybe a ready meal (you get 2 for less than £5) for lunch and a mugshot and mullerrice for dinner. Friday is the only day I will struggle with as cant check into hotel till three and at a different venue that day so no access to microwave. Also with travelling, won't be able to make anything up in advance that morning.

I'm already planning to go to £land to get pop and snacks etc and places like BM's for the mugshots.

It is worth checking the morrisons cafe. They do very cheap meals, particularly the special of the day. If you can get one good meal inside you, then you can survive on snacks the rest of the time.

True! Our local morrisons make a really good evening meal and we often go for breakfast as we love it! Prices are very reasonable too.

Friday, Morrison's Fish & chips must be a good option

A cuppa soup makes a sarnie feel more like a meal. Do you like samosas or bhajis?

Also you could take a tin of soup and heat that up at lunch-time.

Check out the Morrisons on the way back from the event as they may may whoopsies by that time - even if it is a noodle salad.

Take a spare mug or two (camping) or small plastic bowls as cooking utensils.

Instant Whip - chocolate flavour made with milk or dried milk and water is great with a sliced banana.

Instant custard can make a cake into a pudding.

ASDA and Morrison normally have a hot food counter you could get something from. You could just eat it in their cafe although the signs say you should not do it no one has ever questioned me at the one near my work.

The salad buffet cart in Morrisons is normally quite good as well and have updated their range a lot to include healthier items rather than 10 different pasta in mayo choices.

  • Thanks all,

Morrisons looks good for the Friday, just one problem, it says that food is only available till 4pm? If I could time it to get to Morrisons on the Friday I'd probably go for the Mini Fish and Chips (£3.29) or the Meat Free Breakfast (2.75). I see Jacket Potatoes are pretty cheap too so that's always an option.
