Hi, you could try selling your old one on ebay - obviously stating that it is broken and exactly what is wrong with it - I know people who have sold their broken ones on ebay and got reasonable money for them - so people are buying broken ones for a reasonable price - it is worth a try and then use this money towards a new one.

had a look at the cases etc.... but they are for DS Lite - the one my son has is an original DS

Hi, take it back to where u bought it (pref wiv the recipt) tell them wen u bought it an wots happened there was a fault wiv them over a year ago....is it the right hinge by any chance??? i bought my twins 1 each, a white 1 and a pink 1 the white 1 the hinge came right off an was held on by just the wires an the pink started to crack on the same hinge, i phoned nintendo an they said to take it back to the retailer an tell em nintendo had said there were aware of the problem an to swap them both, which they did......(it was gamestation i think) and i'd had them over a year hths worth a shot, tell em u phoned nintendo

I bought bf a case for original DS from toys r us if that's any help?

Also maybe you could take broken DS to any kind of computer geek/engineer person you might know (friends with teenage son perhaps?) to have a play around with, there must be someone who knows how to fix them, good luck
