Morning everyone
A frosty, misty start here this morning but now it is glorious sunshine
Just ordered the new River Cottage Vegetables book from the River Cottage site, so I have something to look forward to receiving next week.
OH has gone out for a while, but I'm hoping to get out into the garden with OH to sort out the borders and the lawn later on.
I've taken 3 lots of chicken thighs out of the freezer to do a batch cooking session this evening. One will be for tonight's meal, the other two will be for meals during the week. It will be something with a tomato and lentil base I think as we are both trying to loose weight.
Big (((hugs))) to everyone feeling down or under the weather.
Have a lovely OS dayEnjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Good morning!
Fab sunny day here today! Off to the garden centre, no not to spend, but to collect money! They have kindly allowed us to do a collection for our charity at the exit doors, so we shall all be taking turns manning the table - my girls are all helping out, and their enthusiasm is totally underwhelming lol!
OS wise I shall be delegating hoovering and tidying! I shall be sorting out the kitchen, and hopefully ds will finish off my raised beds for me. I bought some fruit canes, 2 raspberry and a red and a black currant one in Poundland the other day, so going to ask him nicely to pop those in the space I've got in the back garden!
Looking forward to an afternoon pottering about, got some seeds for a flowerbed in the front garden, a mixed batch of blue things! Also have loads of lily bulbs, so will mix them all up and hopefully have a fab display before too long! Several pink bits, some lavender and a rambling rose there as well, and will be putting toms out there again this year too, so should look interesting!
Anniebooklover - lovely to see you back again!
Kathy - have a safe journey xx
Not caught up at the mo, was planning on doing it last night, but then a friend of dd2's who lives down the road was having a tough time at home, so we took her in, all rather dramatic and really makes me wonder why some people have children. Anyway, she's off to her dad's later today, then I guess we'll have to see what happens, think she's at her gran's for the early part of next week. She knows that she is always welcome here, she's a lovely girl and it seems such a shame that her mum is not behaving well towards her.
Right, best get going, kitchen won't do itself, and I want to have a browse of the The Frugal Cook, which I picked up cheap in the cheapo bookshop in town yesterday!
Have a good day all, hugs to those who want or need them xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning all - havent posted on the daily for a while but seeing as the sun is out I am feeling all inspired!
Will be doing at least 3 washes at 30 today apart from the bedding and trying to get it all line dryed - nothing like nice clean sheets that have been dried outside!
Making a stew/cassrole type thing in the slow cooker for tea and something out the cupboards for lunch (dont you just love the vagueness!)
Apart from that a thoroughly exciting day of cleaning and tidying but want it all done today so I can relax tomorrow (fat chance!).
Hugs to all that need them x x x xxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Morning Everyone
Its cold grey and flaming miserable here and unbelievably I've had to resort to switching the heating on:mad:
Kids have decided its a stay at home day today so we are still in pj's but in my defence I have done most of the housework and played several games of limbo mania with the kids:D
No bread needs making today and its only corned beef hash for tea with a bought bakewell tart for pud.I have a small mountain of bought cakes and I am determined to get through them before I bake some of my own.
If the weather improves I'll take the kids to the park later to run off some steam.Despite their protests it will do them good to get some fresh air.Otherwise I'll be curling up on the sofa with a movie and my cross stitch and after tea the kids have decided we are playing Monopoly.God help me I'll be playing with a meglamaniac 5yr old:rotfl:My YD gets very materialistic and nasty when she plays its hilarious to watch
Mioliere-Good Luck with the move and I am so jealous. But it should be us next as hubbys company have just bought a canadian company and we are going to apply for a job and hopefully move out there!I cant wait
MSD-Glad that your eyes havent deteriorated and yes IMO you should go to yearly check ups as you cant be too careful with your eyesight.Hope you managed to get the garden sorted
Anniebooklover-No matter how small the amount its better in your pocket than theirs and if he's retiring he must have enough money to retire on so its only right he pays his dues before he goes

Morning all...................(((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) if you need one.
My day of rest and recuperation started well, I did not wake until 9.10am. Got up and made a bowl of cereal and a coffee and went back to bed.......lay reading until 10.30, so have just had a shower and got dressed.
Lovely morning, OH walked round to get the TV Choice, saves me taking him out later..........Yesterday I cooked the gammon joint and also a pan of beef and bean stew, so he can take his pick for tonight..........
Need to put the bread maker on later, we are out of HM bread. I am having a problem slicing the bread just now, for some reason its very soft difficult to cut even with the slicing machine, it is breaking up.....any suggestions. I use the 70% wholemeal mix with yeast, salt, sugar and oil.........
OH has just brought me a cuppa..........
I priced up the compost at Wilkinsons, compared to the big bags they sell at B & Q its expensive, especially with such big pots to fill........so I think I am going to have to go to B & Q on wrinklies day and get another large bag. once I have assembled the trolley it might not be so bad..........I am going to go over my budget, so have to take the sensible options. Will be putting a plea on freecycle for rubble to weigh down the pots.........we have a bag od ready mix concreate at the allotment...........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning all
Been to M&S to get the £15 mothers day deal so roast chicken with all the trimmings and chocolate cheesecake for afters tomorrow!!! I know as a mum I am doing all the cooking but would seriously prefer that than fighting my way into a crowded restaurant/pub on mothers day and relaxing afterwards.
Annie - I agree with Ravylessley, its your money so you are the one it should benefit, not him.
Moliere - I know its too late but bon voyage to you too
Salop - Have a lovely time in Cyprus, have just booked a holiday there so any hints or tips send them my way!!!
Bought some freesia corms this morning so will plant them up in the pots I have outside my back door - a beautiful fragrance for the summer Rock cakes are cooking in the oven, just had one straight from there, they taste even better when they are still warm. Not a lot planned for today, have some ironing to do later though. Have a good day all xxxxxx0 -
Hello DF's
I haven't posted lately due to one reason or another but have still been very OS.
I have cooked lunch and dinners everyday this week for DD2&SiL2b, I've also done their washing, drying & ironing and had DGD Charlotte for 3 afternoons.
Inbetween that DH and I have been raking out the joints between the stone walls in the outbuilding, as it was built in the 1500's it's mainly mud and clay, and will re-point it.
We are turning it into a conservatory, it joins onto the kitchen, this year.
I've made 4 trips to the charity shop and had 3 collections from freecyclers.
Meal plan for tonight is HM meatballs in bolly sauce with tagliatelli.
Special thanks for the pm WHATATWIT. and to SMOKY, SQUIGGLY and all who have helped me through a bit of a rough time. I'm meeting DDearFriend tomorrow at our local, hopefully she will be well enough, I've offered to take her to the hosp when she has the chemo treatment as her DH has just had laser for Glucoma, never rains etc ehh!
Loads of hugs to all poorlies.
Off to catch up as I haven't been here for a week. x0 -
Good afternoone everyone!
It's a lovely sunny day here and there's a good breeze, so all my washing is out on the line. Think I'm up to date for the time being. Did some ironing as well, as we've been playing catch up this week with being away.
DH is outside just now giving the grass its first cut of the year! Well, spring has sprung apparently - yesterday was the first day of spring!!
Gave up watching Italy v France rugby, but will be glued to the telly for the Calcutta Cup match and the Wales v Ireland game later on.
It's chicken curry for tea tonight along with some pakora starters I picked up in Aldi on Monday - so looking forward to that.
Hope everyone is having a good day and enjoy the rest of your Saturday.0 -

Got two loads of washing out on the line before going to pick up DD (20) from Newcastle.
She's home for four weeks!:j
Stopped off for a meal so all three of us could relax and chat like people rather than just rushing home and unpacking madly.
She is unpacking and I have hoovered round the house and looked out bedding for her.
DH and other DD(23) are taking things to storage and sorting them out so I am going to have a cup of tea and a browse on here.
Hugs to everybody"This site is addictive!"
