  • Hey up GG, don't diss 80's movies they rock..

As for interview clothes, well Asda have a sale on and Primark do some good suits and will give you change for a new bag to go with suits too. Very MSE.

Good going on he £2 coins, i can see how well you fit in with the others( mysterious ref to Lost and rabid £2 coin collectors):rotfl:
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

    Morning GG

My advice goes with the rest, some money to debt (as much as possible as it's MBNA, you know my own quest against them!) and some for some reasonably priced interview clothes.

Have a lovely day, see you later

    The Latest........

Hey Wassssssssssssssssssssss-up all? Remember that advert? So very annoying. Used to hate it. Now I have moved on and now its the stupid advert with the kid wanting and I quote "to have a poo at Tommy's house".... CRINGEVILLE.

Sat here typing with my right hand and chomping on tortilla chips with the left hand. Check out my multi-tasking ability. Note to self: do not use that exact example at interview next week.

Is everyone enjoying the lovely Bank Holiday Weekend? The weather is, sure as heck, ruining it for me! Though saying that, we have had that nice spitter-spattery rain that is quite refreshing on your face. Recommend waterproof make-up otherwise you'll look like an extra from Thriller with all the slap running down your boat race.

Didn't ride today. Mainly cos feeling a bit under the weather! Don't see the point in all of us getting a proper drenching and the horse hasn't had a day off all week, so horsey could do with a day of rest really.

Have however, walked the dog, said dog is now sprawled out in the lounge, and drying off on the floor. Have never known a dog to always come back from a walk wet. Regardless of whether its been or is raining. Sheer talent so it is.

Mr GG and I had another chat today about debt, seems to becoming a daily topic of conflab. In a good way, I hasten to add.

Turns out his interest is so high on one CC that he is actually only tackling £4 of his actual debt a month. He wants to consolidate into a loan and I tried to put him off. He can't afford to over pay the CC. He has told me that he doesnt have any debt with the bank, other than his overdraft, which is good as he knows about the banks stuffing customers up by taking their funds to pay off debt. Will see how he gets on as I am not sure he'll be able to get a loan, so that maybe the deciding element after all.

Mr GG has also succumbed to the non extravagant anniversary celebrations idea. We know we can't afford anything wonderful and lavish so it will be an MSE event this year. That in itself makes me happy.

My words to Mr GG today, were not to let the debt get us down, we are doing something about it and, OK, so we owe a fair bit, however if we had carried on like we were before it could double what we currently owe each, plus a mortgage. A little scaretactic or two in our household always goes a long way and results in the desired effect! Keeping the credit cards out of harms way and only spending on what needs spending.

About to have a lovely long soak in the bath with a mag. So love long baths (thus meaning duration of said bath and not the size of said bath)and as I am home alone, I can take as long as I want without interruptions.

After that I am going to watch rubbish TV, and eating scrummy non healthy foods whilst wearing sloppy joe's clothes. By that I mean comfy stuff, I haven't nicked any clothes off any bloke called Sloppy Joe. Even if I had, I have to put them in the washer first as the nickname Sloppy Joe is not producing a good image in my head. YUK.

Helped my friend out again this morning for a bit, another £15 in the MBNA tin. Now I have £132.00 to over pay this month. Very proud of my debt busting self.

Went shopping yesterday and I spent just shy of £25 in Pri-Gucci's. Got one top for work and three tshirts and a tshirt for Mr GG. Didnt try any of the stuff on and the work top is too big so will go and change that for a smaller size. When could you EVER buy 5 tops for under £25?? Never ever in the world of retail fashion before Pri-Gucci. Even Mr GG commented on how the clothes look half decent and not cheap. We did also spot the Security Guard checking out all the "preeety ladies" remotely using his camera control station (oh that sounds a bit raunch-esque!!!), I am sure if questioned he could justify his "security measures"..... As if.

I also spent £12 on getting my boots reheeled. Feel its important to have well heeled boots and not scuffed ones. Always hate having people walking behind me upstairs if my trousers don't cover most of my heel when I know my footwear is looking shoddy. As they are probably thinking "Check out the state of those heels - the girl must tapdance her way to work across a building site to get those boots into that kind of a mess!"

Did wonder whether it would be better to put that £12 towards new boots but quickly decided against it. Oh and another thingy, I paid cash for everything. The only thing which I used my DCard for was for some juice for the car. Go meeeeeeeeeeeeee.

In the town centre, there was a quartet playing and they had a guitar case open, which was full of donations. As we wandered by, I said to Mr GG "OOoh look at alllllll those lovely shiny £2 coins". It was all I could do to restrain myself from diving in to writhe around in the lovely £2ness of it all. The alternative was to ask them to stop playing, take £20 out of my purse and ask them if I could swap it for some £2 coins. Fortunately by this point, Mr GG had frogmarched me as far away as possible with the lure of Hot Cross Buns........

Hope you are keeping well, keeping your choc levels topped up (Its dangerous to fall below a ONE EGG A DAY consumption rate this weekend, it can greatly affect your state of mind).

Also hoping that trash TV makes you as happy as it makes me. Maybe its the bottle of plonk that is the swaying factor here??

Whichever way you look at it, have an MSE Bank Hols, be nice to yourself, nice to each other and nice to your debts by keeping any spending very low or at least make sure that the spends are at least MSE Savvy.

    Til the next time gang..................

Can't have an egg, am beginning to look a little egg shaped myself  Why doesn't weight fall off as soon as you decide you don't want it anymore??

You're doing well on the 'head stuff' GG, adjusting the mind set is really difficult, especially if you've adjusted well to using plastic money...

Mrs G, I so love reading your updates!! :rotfl:I now have a vision of Mr G physically restraining you from diving into a guitar case of £2 coins! :rotfl:

Multi tasking - no, dont mention typing/tortilla chips at the interview. I am typing with cat on lap, but I think thats a skill that every cat owner has anyway?!

Enjoy long bath and trashy telly, that is sooooo my kind of night! Just about to watch Doctor Who with the small people, then later on its Red Dwarf. *note to self: does that make me sound geeky?*

Wholeheartedly agree on that. So unfair that a short indulgence (quick chomp on a choccie bar) takes forever to get rid of.

The mind set is the main hurdle I think with debt and the toughest to part to click in. Credit Cards provide to much of an easy fix. Even with the best intentions of repaying the extra each month. A min repayment by DD is also too easy. I now see CCs as not my money, a loan. Pure and simple. I am doing myself a great dis-service each time I use one (or should I say when I used to!) as I couldn't afford to repay it and I've now got myself in a bit of a situation, that is taking quite a bit of effort to get out of. As I have no longer got a job due to redundancy, that also scared the living daylights out of me, though I had already cut right back on my credit card use, so it was a step in the right direction.

Each time I get my debt £1000 lower, for me that is another rung on the ladder closer the salvation of being debt free (except the mortgage!).

Hi GG - we are having bright sunshine here... We have been putting our garden to rights yesterday and today. Sorry you've not had such good weather.

On the CC and mr GG - can he not get a 0% or rate for life from somewhere like barclays, abbey or halifax? It is worth looking into. We used to have really high apr's now we look at 7% and say gosh that is high.... All our debt is currently 0%.... Check it out - if you do it via a cashback site (right name for each card ie account each) you can even be paid to transfer your money to a lower interest card....

    Good luck!
