The Latest Update
Thanks everyone for your posts of support, they make me go all weepy!
Its tough at the minute, MrGG and I are spending a lot of time arguing about it, I get all emotional, this mornings incident was due to opening a second letter from the bank telling me that they have bounced yet another DD. Great. Not.
My car insurance people contacted me also to tell me they had payment refused also.
I feel like I am totally chasing my tail and getting nowhere.
I seriously am considering getting a loan to consolidate my debt, as then at least I would be able to have some money each month to live on as at the moment, life is not enjoyable. MrGG doesn't want me to do this as he thinks he can save the day each month as he has the opportunity for overtime. Though I think my credit rating must be now completely shot and that I doubt I'd be able to get a loan anyway.
Other steps we are going to take to improve our situ, is to get our car fixed, then sell it and get something cheap to run, tax and insure as the car we have is not, frankly I can't afford the fuel. MrGG has forked out over £100 tax for 6months!!! So this is our priority and hope to make the changes in the next few months.
Our other step, if we can, is as our mortgage is up for renewal is to change to interest only for a couple of years, or MrGG has suggested going back to 25years, I think at the mo we are down to 20/21 something like that.
My mind is boggling.
I really don't want to go down the DMP route. It scares me and I am worried about the long term effects.
Getting myself into such a pickle has completely opened my eyes and I never ever ever want to have a credit card or loan again. I want to have savings, have a little bit of disposable income to actually live. I am bored of constantly saying to my pals I have no money, I can't do this and I can't do that.
My bad money management has completely ruined my life and the hardest thing to swallow, is that its all my own fault.
Til the next time......** Proud to be dealing with my debts **LBM - Jan 2009 _pale_ : £24,802.21 :eek:February 2010 :silenced: : £18,078.47 (not including OD)July 2010= £16,819.34 (not including OD)

You're back, you're back, hurrah, hurrah!!
Okies, first off stop blaming yourself. In the end we're all responsible for our money woes, it's why we're here, but it's also how we found such good internet friends...every cloud and all that
Selling the car for something cheaper seems like a good plan, I agree with you about the likelihood of getting a loan though.
I know next to naff all about DMPs but if your credit rating is shot to sh*t now, it might be worth considering. Ask for help on the DFW main board and see what people think. They will want a SOA though.
We love you lots and want to help, come back and see us.

Freesh - you are lovely...and you have made me cry. Agree about the every cloud and all that jazz, I do loves me MSE buds, as they is the only ones that understand, oh and obviously know! Though saying that more and more chums do know that we are broke so that is making it easier. Have told them all recently in convo's that we can't do nothing. All have been understanding and we've been doing cheap eats and dinners at theirs etc, but we need to return the favour some millenium.
Will have to try and build courage to post on main DFW and post SOA. Not sure is brave enough and I'd need to spend some time working out the outgoings of the joint account.....
Phoned MBNA, spoke to nice chap with lush Irish accent (dont tell MrGG! LOL!) and paid my installment, then I was a brazen (sp?) MSE'r and asked to have my £12 fine wiped as I hadn't defaulted on the account before, so he checked to see if I was telling the troof and obv I was, I does not lie! Then he uttered the lovely words of "as a courtesy we will credit back the £12" AWESOME. He then told me if it bounces again, the DD automatically gets canx. Bummer.
House is a mess, downside of having a dog, the place is never mud free!! Tip to self: consider not walking the mutt or perhaps carry dog everywhere? Tho not practical when mutt weighs something like 35kg.
Got to clean house, well as much as I can bear, do huge amount of laundry, its unreal. Need to tidy up, exercise dog and stuff, then come home and crash in front of tv. Will watch this week's Grey's Anatomy. Its starting to get good again as I was worried it might be losing its sparkle.
Have been good MSE'r and taken lunch to work each day, though did treat myself to an M&S flapjack bar - it was Friday! I know I can make my own! Going to try and do some baking this weekend also.
Tomorrow MIL is popping over for breakfast for Mother's Day, so that should be nice. Must remember to hide all credit card statements and letters from bacnk saying I am shocking with money.
Will try and catch up on everyone's diaries too. This debt malarkey and self induced black cloud makes a MSE'r very selfish and makes you forget that there are other people out there in a similar boat. Sometimes in an even bigger boat.** Proud to be dealing with my debts **LBM - Jan 2009 _pale_ : £24,802.21 :eek:February 2010 :silenced: : £18,078.47 (not including OD)July 2010= £16,819.34 (not including OD)

I'm thirding what F_F said!!
and hopefully able to add something useful.......
You should be able to change to interest only on your mortgage at any time, not just renewal
Nice little letter to the lender explaining how the recession has meant you aren't being paid what you're worth any more.....could buy yourself a little breathing space (my mortgage is 75% I/O, only 25% repayment which I should try & do something about but funds don't permit that....not tha I care, its only my ex-employer I owe the money to!!)
Love, hugs & cramp in fingers from keeping them crossed for you

Hi GG - I think converting to interest only on your mortgage could be a good solution.... We are on interest only while we repay our credit cards and that has been the right thing for us. How much would that save a month? Would it make a big enough difference or would you still need to do a dmp as well?
If you are at the stage of getting your car insurance payments bounced it does sound like you need to do something more radical about the sitatuion.
Hugs - hope you find a solution soon.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
