  • The latest installment........ same you know what (think 4 letter word!), different day!

***Clears throat and prepares to sing***

Were all going on a summer holiday
No more working for a week or two.
Fun and laughter on a summer holiday
No more worries for me and you.
    For a week or two.

Were going where the sun shines brightly.
Were going where the sea is blue.
Weve seen it in the movies
Now lets see if its true.

    Everybody has a summer holiday
Doing things they always wanted to.
So were going on a summer holiday
To make our dreams come true
    For me and you.

    *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

In the Goose Houshold there won't be any summer holiday this year! However, just singing about a pretend holiday has made one feel a bit brighter! Bet you all thought I'd slipped off the DFW wagon and even got squished by it too! Hee Hee

Hello to one and all! Long time no post. Have been lurking but not had any motivation to actually log on ye ole computer. Instead have been in the sunshine. Tis true. Exercise does raise the endorphins and life one's spirits. Also helps kick period pains in the butt.

As my latest diary header reads, it really has been the same (you know what) different day. My life feels a bit Groundhog ish at the moment. I suppose routine does have its place and if I didn't have the routine I do have, I think I'd be going Joe Banana's.

Registered at the job centre this morning. Should have remembered to spray myself with anti-Chav repellent before I went. It was a not nice experience at all and I wasn't expected to get flipping whistled at and given the once over by a fellow "benefit seekeer" before I'd even got in the door *cringe*.

To keep it brief and so as not to bore you with my detailed description of what was so vomitville about the local Job Centre, basically I have to go back again to actually sign on. I did explain that I did receive a redundancy payment and the chappie told me that it wouldn't affect my JSA claim as its based on my NI contributions? So we will see.

I have another interview this week and I need to get swotting up on the company. I have been procrastinating about it, due to the way it makes my brain cell (yes I only have the one!) throb as soon as I start cramming. Fingers crossed I get through this stage and on to the next. Oh hell, sod it, let's hope I get the job! Aim high girl, aim high!

The money I have earnt recently off a friend is still in my purse. Mr GG thinks I should hang on to it and not pay it towards the evil eyed MBNA card. I think I should. He thinks its better off in my purse in case I still have no job and my redundancy runs out, then I will at least have these pennies to put towards the mortgage. I do get his point. Same with the JSA, he reckons hang on to it. I'd rather get it paid off a CC. Your thoughts please?

Didnt bother calling IF. A note on my statement for the card that I have cancelled!! Go figure, says that due to amount of available credit on my account I cannot BT. The limit is £2,700, in my eyes that is plenty to do a BT on. Perhaps they are concerned they won't be able to cream lots of interest off me. Who knows.

Last night I made a storecupboard dinner. It was a case of chuck it all in a pan and see what happens. So it was leek, mushrooms, half a red pepper, capers, mixed in with pasta and cheddar cheese. Tasted gooooood. Though it would seem perhaps its been awhile since my digestive system has seen any veg...... Think I should quit this paragraph here!

Hope you are all keeping well, working hard and beating your debt demons with a Payment A Day or at least meeting your minimum payments on time. Don't give 'em a penny more than you really have to.

    Til the next time.......

    Yeah Mrs GG is back!

Must admit I had a wee sing song at the beginning, sorry to say but I do have a holiday this year - one that is costing a horrendous amount of money (horrendous for me), but is mostly paid for from savings. Next year will be much much closer to home, and the year after and the year after that!

Good luck with the job interview, hoping you don't have to sign on for too long, I've done it once before and must admit felt a bit of a posh bird in amongst the riff raff (not all of them obviously).

It's a bit concerning with the BT, I'm hoping to get another one at the end of this year - gonna be in major poo poo if I don't get it!

Bye for now, look forward to more sing songs x
  • You should be pleased that your holiday is mostly paid for in real money and not someone else's. For that I say "BRAVO"!!!

Normally, we'd book up, fly off, have another topnotch break and come back and figure how to pay for it. We normally have the spending ££. This year we are being good. Actually, truth is I have stomped my Size 28 DFW flip flops well and truly down and told Mr GG we are not having one. End of. He is cool with it. He doesnt really have a choice, though he knows its for the best.

Perhaps when we are down to £10k each left to debt bust then we can have an incy wincy holly. Maybe.

Re: Job Centre, same here. The Security guy, was like "new claims upstairs" before I even opened my mouth! So I must have stood out like a sore thumb.

  • Here is the OS meals for 50p thread - I thought they were really good, inspirational and most of all, probably all done out of storecupboard essential stock items!

Go forth and multiply! Eg: Batch cook! Not you know what! LOL

you know the signing on thing.. well im clearly a little stupid and i really thought that signing on was signing in a big book everyweek and standing in a big queue. but as i have never signed on i still dont know if it is a big book or just my imagined signing on theory.

sooon mrs gg life will be better. you are doing well - having some sunshine will do the world for your positive vibes. we all need some sun after winter.
i will catch up later - its tea time

Hi GG hope you manage to sort out a least a wee break somewhere. Perhaps try some of these survey sites. We have a free holiday in Cornwall courtesy of one of them.... We also had a free overnight stay in the Lakes... Did have to go to several hours of meetings tho but freebie holiday was worth it!

I don't find signing on too stressful but I just see it as £128 a time. I can got there for 10 mins or so for £128! I had to do that double thing where you register - my sigining on day was the next day! So literally I was back again 24 hours later. Don't forget to claim your interview expenses in advance! As in you tell them in advance of the interview and then submit another form after and eventually you get the money.... After that it will be 2 weeks between sign ons.

Hope you do well at your interview! Be bold, be confident, be prepared! Good luck!

  • My signing on day is tomorrow, so I'll be back there again. I park in a local supermarket and walk, saves me the parking costs.

If I am late or I can't make it, even if I have an interview, I'll be marked as a no show and it may invalidate my claim! I mean, come on, wouldnt they rather I attended the interview????

    Where is the logic?

I know a lot of people will try it on, understandably but still.....

If you are at an interview and/or it runs on then I got told I could ring them up and they would arrange an alternative signing on time. You probably got a "jobs worth" doing your session.... They will ring the employer (or in my case they agreed to ring the agency) to check re your interview but other than that it should be okay. They may have responded to your pessimism :rotfl:Seriously they are not as bad as you think!

Ahhhhh Mrs G-G, you have my sympathies re holidays.

If we had to pay for a holiday this year, we would most definitely not be having one either. Fortunately, I have paid for our holiday with Tesco vouchers :jso we are having a week in southern Brittany in July in a very nice 3 bed luxury mobile home, and taking my parents as well (not in the same caravan I hasten to add - dont want to be THAT cosy :rotfl:) and all I have paid in real money is the £15 damage waiver. Thank you Mr T! Mind you, with his 3 trillion profit, I think he can afford it!! :rotfl:

I hope you manage to get some kind of break, even a little weekend somewhere, keep checking the last minute type sites, you can get real bargains on those.

And GOOD LUCK with the job hunting!
