The Golden Goose's Quest For The Golden Egg - AKA A Debt Free Life!

Hey GG,
I love reading your diary, it's like a story as such and despite the nature of it (debt) it's great fun to read:rotfl:
I love the way you have managed to get Mr GG with the supermarket takeaway - my OH luckily is a big fan of these. Although he has just called a little while to say we are off out for a curry and drinks in town with friends tonight....woo hoo:j Looks like we are both off out for a night
Sorry about the coffee - you must be a hardcore drinker!! I can never taste the difference, but maybe that's because I only add a tip of teaspoon of granules....not so hardcore am I
I'm a great fan of walking, getting out and about. Thankfully we live with great surroundings and country park so lots to see and do.
I'm going to bog off now as will be yapping here for ages

Hi Mrs G-G,
Glad to hear that Mr G-G is slowly being converted!! My DH is also coming round to my way of thinking - this week he passed the "Using up the leftovers in the fridge" module!! :j:j
If we keep on at them enough, some of it must sink in!!
Enjoy the doggie walk!0 -
Please can you tell me how to make my own horsey fly spray.

Hi gals!
Thanks for the posts! Nice to know you are out "there"!
Roll on tonight - I am getting cabin fever, so having a night of pretending we have a full social life, will be good for us.
Ta for the compliments about me Debt Disaster Diary! The only paper my diary is worth printing on is the bog paper! I have even taken to squishing the roll, so as to make it last longer! If I visit anyone's house and spy a squished loo roll, I know that you are a MSE'r or a DFW'er - fear not I won't mention it, your secret is safe with me.
Mr GG would never ever compromise on food til now, feeling that its our only treat, even so, it doesnt have to cost a lot to still make it really enjoyable. When I tell him about the concoctions I come up with out of the storecupboard.... let's just say his face is a picture and its certainly no oil painting at that precise moment.
Back from the walk, an hour of full on fresh air and chasing the dog about, I do feel better. Think it was the three chocolate caramel digestives that really did the trick. Don't think I haven't eaten enough today. Never really do at the weekends. Its all go go go.
L - regarding the horsey spray OS, there are lots of ways. I do:
1 ltr of cold stewed tea (black tea!!!)
10ml tea tree oil
500ml of vinegar
Put into garden spary thingy-a-me-bobby (about a squid or cheaper), shake well and spray away. I never put spray on the face directly, on to a sponge and never above the eyes, as if neddy sweats it runs in horsey's eyes and will sting like stink - though you already know this (not trying to teach to suck eggs BTW.....)
There are quite a few diff recipes around though!
Another one is:
3 caps of dettol from a 500 ml size bottle
250ml Avon Skin so Soft and Fresh.
1 teaspoon each of
Citronella oil
eucalyptus oil
lavender oil
teatree oil
cedarwood atlas oil
Put into a 1 litre spray bottle and top up with water or cold tea.
Shake well before spraying and frequently during spraying to keep the oils mixed.

I beg your pardon, meant to say Malt. Has more of a kick to it.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy to make and you probably have most of the stuff at home already. Can get the tea tree from Boots (if you have Advantage Card points - can pay with those maybe?) - MSE MSE MSE!! The Latest Installment
Bish Bash Bosh - its Monday again!
Boy, I have had a right ole lazy day. Only just got dressed!!! Did the horse thing this morning and then lounged around watching TV in my jodhs til this afternoon, then had a soak in the bath.
The house resembles Stig of the Dump's abode. Except my hair is less wild and less greasy. Seriously, am having a can't be frickin' bovvered day. Not good as I can see the dust on the window sills and on the photo frames. Maybe I can pass it off as some kind of interior designer chic....
Yesterday, was Sunday, in case you didnt know, or in case, any of you slept through it with mega hangovers....??
Our meal out on Saturday night was very pleasant and cheaper than we thought it was going to be, so bonus there. Didnt drink too much, so felt not too bad Sunday morning. Always a good thing. Exercised horsey horsey, so that was the first job done. Walked the dog, second job done. Breakfast consumed, another job done, then I went off shopping for the afternoon.
Yes, you read correctly. S.H.O.P.P.I.N.G. Clothes shopping too. I know I know I know. Hear me out!! Stop shouting at me! I didnt spend a huge amount and I got a lot of cloth for my cash. Yes, cloth for my cash, not cloth for my credit!!! I bought some tops from Sainsburys (pretty impressed with some of their items, good quality too) and a couple of belts too. Did want one belt from M&S but it was £25, I can't spend that on a belt. Instead I bought two belts for £27. Does that make me a bad person? Maybe but I'll look very up to the minute in my new belts as I am being reprimanded for spending. Mr GG gave me ten squid towards my spends, so that was good. I am not buying any more clothes. Still got to take that top back to Primark, will do that if I pop in town this week.
Agency called about the interview last week and I said I was interested but not sure I championed myself very well to the interviewer, should get feedback next couple of days.
Trying to think of what I have done in the last couple of days that was MSE/DFW. We had dinner at Mother in Laws last night. Scofftastic.
Have not used my CC for quite some time now, looking forward to getting the bill in!!
I shall be walking the dog later, so more free exercise. Hope the rain doesnt come back. Will have to do something with the floors downstairs as it resembles a swamp. Do hate the wet.
I'll be doing some necessary housework, so unloading and reloading the dishwasher. Maybe stretch to hoovering, maybe not. Completely feeling lazy bones-itis today. Need a discokip, powernap, cat nap, energy boosting 40winks.
The evening will be spent mostly lounging about the house on the sofa catching up with taped TV shows. This evening I shall be taping Trophy Wives. Really love watching OTT US shows. Really easy to get lost in the drama and forget about your money worries. Though saying that my money worries are not as bad as they once were, as I am not increasing the debt, just reducing it baby!
Mr GG thinks I am have an unhealthy obsession with the internet, he says I am always on Facebook and who am I chatting with. I tell him its my new very best friend Mr Martin Lewis!!!
Not much excitement in the Golden Goose household recently, from a financial point of view, I guess that is really not a bad thing!
Regarding my number one pet hate which is buying petrol, its my understanding that its more economical to only have a half tank of petrol in your car........ I can never bear to fill the tank right up as I am too tight to part with that amount of cash, so I only ever do halves! According to Mr GG I am very good at timing things just right, so that Mr GG seems to borrow the car when its virtually right out of gas, so he has to fill it up! See I am not stupid..... why spend my money when I can spend his!!!!
