I put five Tom Thumb and five Webbs Wonder out at the weekend with baked eggshells surrounding them to (hopefully) stop the slugs and have now had to net them as well as the dog ate some eggshells and sicked them up Sunday morning:eek:. I'm in the West Midlands. I also planted out my runner beans, maybe too early but so far they are doing okay and I have some more sown for back up.0

You're 'Oop north' so that might be appropriate, but my greenhouse is going up to 90 degrees in old money and it's getting rather hot for germinating lettuceon the benches there. Lettuce like it coolish for germination, so it may be a case of moving them in and out, as needed.0 -
My little lettuce plants ( i made them myself) went out a couple of weeks ago just before the high winds, the fleece got blown off and some critter got in and had a good dig around, so i lost over half of them.
I have since potted some more and they will be ready to plant out soon. I use a mix i get off ebay and i pick them as young salad leaves, once they get going we buy very little from the shops.
Also i left some of the rocket in the ground over winter it did have fleece over it and after a quick tidy we are now eating rocket. I also live up north.
Slightly off topic but the chillies i planted April last year are on the window sills in my house and are on their second crop.0
