Hey there...
I'm currently at Stafford uni (first year) studying Network Computing.. i've already done a CISCO CCNA 1 qualification, going on to get the full CCNA..
As for the time being, I need a job as most people at uni! I don't know where to look though! I'm thinking most computer places (hardware/technical/support) are going be looking for full time jobs only? I find my skills are better off working with computers in a more advanced way, than been a cashier in maplins (what i used to be...)
Does anyone have idea's of how to find part time/uni job's in this area? Or even just a summer job in this area...?
Thanks very much for any help ! I really need a job but am struggling!

Well... I was more or less in the same situation. I am an experienced programmer in a postgrad course. I was looking for a part-time job through the online agencies (totaljobs, jobsite etc) for 3 months. Received quite a few offers but when I mentioned "no more than 20 hours per week" they said no!
The best place to try is the jobs division of the guild of students at your uni. The employers who post there are looking for part time workers. I found a job in week through the guild. It shouldn't be hard with your cisco certification.
You can always post your cv on the online job agencies and mention that you are looking for part time employment. You could also try http://www.justparttime.co.uk
Good luck!0 -
i've seen some student unions actually advertise for work needing to be done, so as well as asking for the jobs/careers section, you could also ask them directly if they need anything too.:happyhear0

There is no such thing as Stafford Uni, there is a Stafford Campus of StaffordSHIRE University though!!! :rotfl: I'm going to have to get onto our School of computing and get them to teach their students where they are studying before they teach them about networking computers :rotfl:
@ ames123, its a small world, what village are you from just outside Stafford? PM if you don't want everyone to know.0 -
try your local district/county council, i know weve got a student who comes in a say or two in the week and is also paidNamed after my cat, picture coming shortly0

I thought it would be quicker to say Stafford Uni than Staffordshire University at the Stafford Campus.. which it was.
Don't be so pedantic

Get onto your school of computing? Does that mean you work for them? Any jobs available? haha

Yeah I work for the Uni mate, as I said before, I live just outside Stafford but work on the Stoke campus. Will keep you guessing what department.
Who knows, I may have even bumped into you in Chicago Rock Cafe or Apres before now!!!0 -

While we're correcting things, don't you mean the 'Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology'?
And it might as well be 'Stafford uni' because the Stoke campus is like a whole other university that most people never even go to, or will go to once or twice.0
