:hello: Well done on losing weight, you're doing Tescos diet right? I like the sound of it fried rice and roast chicken
Hope you get car sorted. Think happy car thoughts for me tomorrow as mine's going in for service and MOT :eek:Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

yep tesco diets... you would be surprised what you are allowed to eat on the diet! It is more about portion control and adding some low gi items into the mix - we've swapped to brown rice for example... but only allowed a couple of small roast potatoes....
We can't find my car ownership doc or the last mot at the mo - kind of essential even to sell it for scrap.... EEK
hope your car gets thro its mot okay - I know first hand how stressful that whole process can be.
Well I've just swapped £20 of tesco tokens for £80 worth of deals so we can have some free days out during the summer! Really chuffed about that! One of them is quite local to us and we have really enjoyed it when we've been before - but I didn't know I could use clubcard points for it!
Bye for now!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi guys....
Well house is almost tidy again ready for yet another MIL visit! However it is raining - so sports day may be cancelled but if the rain stops they plan to hold it... not sure when the cut off point is to confirm.... They've started it before now on rainy days and then cancelled after 10 mins GRRR
I'm feeling in a weird mood today - I had soup for breakfast! Couldn't face porridge or whatever so skipped straight to lunch.... May have cheese toasties for lunch to keep cost down....
I can't find my docs on the car I am trying to get rid of (using a crate approach to tidying up for MIL can have its draw backs.... did I say crate ? I think I meant crateS plural!)
DS has his school leaver's party tonight - supposed to be a barbecue not quite sure what they will do there if it is raining... I'm hoping they just rig a gazebo and go for it anyway!
I am going out with a friend tonight... probably spend around a fiver.... Can't wait... Desperately need to get out the house...! Waiting to hear back from an agency today to about next steps on the job I went for a week or so ago.... If I can get the dates to work out okay, I am thinking of booking myself on a £400 training course - PTLLS kind of a Train the Trainer course.... one of the dates is a signing on date tho so I may have to talk to the job centre about it. I am hoping it would make me more employable tho - and if I ever needed to go self employed it would help! It would also give me a positive focus....
Oh well I suppose I could ring the job centre plus people and make a general enquiry see if it will be a problem... then ring the company and see if they still have space. MIL has agreed to look after kids so that is not a problem....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Re PTLLS - I did DTLLS (the full 2 year version, but only one evening a week at college) and got a non means tested non repayable grant for it, which covered the full amount of the course (about £1100 per year) plus £200 towards the cost of the books each year.
It might be worth seeing what your local education authority will cover in terms of cost.
If you sign up as an Adult Ed tutor as well, they will often pay for you to do the PTLLS course - ours even pay your hourly pay rate for the hours you attend the course, as well as paying the course fee.......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. One of the jobs I have applied for would want me to train as part of the role. But also last year someone said they might give me associate training work - if I could get this course under my belt it might open up more opportunities for me...
I rang the DSS and they said - it probably wouldn't affect my benefits too much - so much for getting any help from them. They actively make it harder to get work in my opinion!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Try your local education authority instead of the DSS......I believe mine was done through the Student Loans people, even though I don't have and never have had a student loan.
I think I actually applied online. It might also be worth having a word with the college who provide the course to see what they suggest. £400 is a lot of money to fork out if there is any chance of it being covered elsewhere.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. thanks hypno - I've sent the course provider an e-mail will see what they come back with as a starting point
One bit of good news today - one of our credit cards is going to let us transfer £5k from another card at 0% with a 1.25% handling fee for 6 months... Really pleased with that! So this month we will have moved £7k of a £10K debt to 0% but still need to find a home for another £3k.... (we have been offered a life time rate of 3.45% on a card tho so may move it to that one if we can't get another 0%).Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Congrats on finding all the 0% there seem as rare as hens teeth now. Its great that big chunks are safely on zero - good luck finding a home for the rest!
Good luck getting support for your course. I'm thinking about signing up for an evening class to learn Spanish. Might be more sensible to do car maintenance after today :rotfl:Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier
