Hi guys well I am afraid to say that yesterday was the day from hell....

So up at 6am, shower then out - to nightmare job to finish up at lunchtime. My boss hadn't told anyone I was leaving despite promising to so it was left to me! Got home for about 1.15 - then had to get ready for interview - find something for DD to wear at MILs and collect her from school. Running late - so met up with MIL part way to interview.... Got to interview hit a kerb with a wheel too hard....:o

Go into interview - don't know if got job - hopefully find out tomorrow. Seemed ok but not obvious that rapport was there - very poker faced despite any smiles....

Come out of interview - steering all wonky. Try the start and switch off engine a couple of times thing - drive half a mile before deciding that driving like a tank and a weird noise just aren't normal. Look for road assistance number - ring OH who provides the wrong one. Held in a queue for 25 mins:mad: b4 abandoning call and ringing OH to check number. Get a number - call them out at 6pm and arrive home at guess what - 12am :mad:- a distance of 30 miles. Plus repairs on car could be hundreds of pounds!_pale_

By 8.30 when the first mechanic turns up (2.5 hours not the 1 hour they originally told me) I was in tears (again). Someone on the street came out offered me a drink, sandwich and use of the bathroom! :A I was still there 2.5 hours later!!!! They said that it just needed some fluid topping up when the whole wheel was out of alignment! :mad:There was no fluid on board so they called someone to deliver it from another job. 1 hour later - The fluid all leaked out and they then called a tow truck which arrived 1.5 hours later. :mad:I then had roughly an hour's journey home!

Meanwhile.... OH's car had its MOT today and failed! _pale_They said it would cost over £200 :eek:to put right. I queried whether it would be cheaper :money:to get it done elsewhere whereupon they decided that actually they had overestimated by £100!

Upshot being funeral tomorrow - had to arrange alternate transportation via other family members to get there as BOTH cars at the garage at the same time!_pale_

If I don't get this job - this will be the most expensive interview I have ever attended!!!

The lady whose doorstep I landed on was fab - and I shared with her all my best money making tips from here and showed her the special occasions board too - so hopefully in her case virtue will have its own reward :T She even said if I got the job to pop back for coffee sometime as it was right round the corner from where I would be working!

I am sure you can see I would like a better day tomorrow! Hope your days go well and thanks again for the support:A

What a horrible day - and today does not sound like lots of fun either! I hope you are going to give car recovery company a very hard time  - I thought they were supposed to give women on their own priority.

Sounds like the lady who invited you in was lovely - :T - she was very thoughtful. I'll bet you were very grateful especially for bathroom offer after 6 hours or so.

Hope today goes as well as could be hoped for,

    Maggie
  • Oh SH sorry to hear of your day, especially with both cars.

Fingers crossed that you get this job.

What a nice lady though who offered you some help, it's nice when people do that, just goes to show that there are some decent people in the world.

Mega dodgy hugs to you :grouphug:

Just having a catch up on your diary, sorry for your loss and I hope the funeral is as ok as it can be xx

Can't believe the company you have been working for, definitely their loss hun, and at least like you said, if they get rid of you, you are still ok for jobseekers, etc.

Sorry to hear about the car too, I just hope all of this means things can only get better for you, got my fingers crossed on the job x

thanks karen and tigzem. Little worried as sis not here yet - don't want to be late to the funeral! Hope she knows what she is doing and isn't having problems herself.

Being very mse and diet conscious and currently preparing a stockpile of drinks and snacks to take with us... oops better add some fruit in too!

    Bye for now....

    hi SH
i have been catching up a little with your activities... so so sorry to hear about ur day from hell... dont u find some days are just PANTS - everything you touch just crumbles and goes wrong.. its almost like a domino effect... the harder you try the worse it gets [or is that just my life?]

keep strong - just think of how much you have achieved so far, and focus. at least there are the odd good souls out there like the lady who helped you when u broke down.

    hugss
