I have wondered whether to pose my question in the moral maze - but I would hate to be included in martin's e-mail for a hot tip for asking the question lol!
I just spoke to an agency about it - they kept changing their mind on what excuse they'd give so it is evidently a conundrum for lots of people... I know someone that said they were going to a funeral I just couldn't do that!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well guys - I have made progress on a couple of things....
I have joined shopping diary website - to track my spending... Averaging £25 a day nearly currently.... (incudes groceries, petrol etc)
I have also today joined a diet club on line to try and change our family eating habits... it does create a shopping list for you so I will let you know how I got on. Unfortunatley that was £29 but for 10 weeks so I don't think that is too bad!
Good luck all!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SavingH!
Spending diary sounds a brilliant idea - and if there's anyway to shock you - its counting up what you can spend without knowing! Worked for me...
Let us know how the diet website goes!! All sounds goodLBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never

Hi all!
Well spent way too much yesterday - bought some clothes and spent DOUBLE the usual on groceries.... (but my freezer and cupboards are full to the brim!)
Started diet today....
Breakfast
Banana on 2 pieces of toast approx 300 cals
25g of hazelnuts approx 50 cals
Late morning snack
Biscuit approx 50 cals
Lunch - absolutely gorgeous - (but small portion - half of one of my bowls!) my own version of the recipe - hope it was still the right calories but was the right weights... Just realised should have done rice! LOL:rotfl:
Beef mushroom, chestnut and bamboo shoot stirfry with chinese leaf, onions and peppers plus frozen mixed peppers, frozen mushrooms, 4 spring onions and a home made sauce following diet site directions!
Just realised I put too much sesame oil and olive oil in too but there we go! Put it this way the calories from that probably made up for the lack of rice! Supposed to be approx 440 cals each - it probably was!
If that is what the food will taste like - then I could live with this diet.... :jWe all agreed it was takeaway/restaurant quality!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SH,
That lunch sounds amazing, I love stir-frys! Didn't know you could get frozen mushrooms?! I'm always buying the smallese pack I can find but end up throwing at least half out!
I'm still working, been here since 10am but having a wee break - leaving soon I think, although it is double time, ha!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend - hope you made a decision for interview x0 -
Hi Swinstie - I've saved loads since I started using frozen mushrooms, mixed peppers etc. You can defo get them at Asda, sometimes at Morrisons, don't know about Tescos...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I am sure that this month is not normal honest... but my spending diary total today for June .......
£365.84! :eek::eek::eek:
That includes £40 petrol, £47 clothes, £31 plants, £22 cleaner and tons of food!
The only positive in that....
The petrol should last all week. Clothes and plants are a complete one off (they were mainly for OH). My freezer and tin cupboards are full to the brim! The kids and OH will be on packed lunch all week - and I can claim some of my petrol and lunches back....
Hope next week is much better....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Lunch was £1.17 today so that is not bad at all. Am still on my diet altho some sherbert saucers and mini meringues snook in yesterday so I think I may have gone a couple of hundred calories above my 1400 target.
Have asked for the time off - am awaiting reply.
Hope everyone else is okay.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
