I can understand that ... it is a tricky one ... in such tricky situations I pick an answer & if it doesn't feel right I know that that isn't what I should do. Does that make any sense?!

How long have you got until the interview?

What has also really annoyed me is I have read some minutes saying they are still looking for an internal perm person for the role whereas they told my agency the job was mine for 6 months...

Hun - that says it all - don't feel guilty at all!!! Please don't!!! Do a sicky and you should have to call the agency who then call them - so less guilt feeling me reckons...
The biggest guilt thing is that I have a meeting booked first thing that morning.... :o without that meeting I would feel less guilty!!:p

Actually think this might help you in terms of it looking more convincing and just mention on phone to agency that could they pass on your apologies for the not attending the meeting...

Don't re-arrange meeting in advance - could look suspicious...

(PS I'm not really sneaky :o but believe you are doing the right thing!!)

Hi Raini and Little Emms thanks for the response. Problem is I hate lying - normally try to say something that I can make true. If I do the sickie one - I may say something like... "I don't feel very good today...." Oh well I still have a little time before the interview so won't make any excuses yet... but if any of you have other thoughts that would be great!

    Hi SH,

The job you are in just now is temporary isn't it?! If so, why don't you just say that you had applied for this job before getting the temp one, and the interview has only just came up and therefore you would like the opportunity to go to the interview as there is potential for it being full-time. When you are temping you're not obliged to them really. We had a woman in here who temped for 2.5 years then phoned in one Monday and said she wasn't coming back - I found that a bit cheeky especially as we were friends but if she couldn't show any loyalty after that length of time, you shouldn't need to after a week or so. Hope that helps with the decision - think of No. 1! x

yeah - SH - I agree with swinstie.. if its temp and u have an interview then there is nothing legally stopping u from going. and u r being honest too!

I did have the first interview the week before I started the temp job.... the second interview this week (week 2 of the job) and final interview next week (week 3 of the job). The thing is that while I am a "temp" it is at managerial level....

I may be truthful and just say I have been offered a final interview for a role I applied for and had an interview for prior to joining here - it is more local and a lot more money..... It just feels a little in her face... She is the sort that has high ethical standards and would be disappointed in anything other than the latter approach but may still penalise honesty.... as she would "expect" greater loyalty!! (completely unreasonably in my view)

i think that everyone knows how hard it is to get a job and getting a job at ur level is very difficult. surely this woman would appreciate ur directness / honesty even if u dont get the other job - it shows the woman that u are honest and dont hid things. alternatively she may think its a bit 'off' but she needs to understand how hard it is to get a job and especially in this climate a GOOD MANAGERIAL one!!!
