hmm well seems the norm that if u invite child then u pay for child... but cinema can be a little OTT.
we once did a bowling party with a meal afterwards at TGI. all kids but one child had the kids menu and this other kid ordered the most expensive meal from adult menu to my horror. i spent the meal giving him my 'death stare' !!! ha haHighest Debt £581,000 Nov 08 and now owe nothing! yes really! I just crashed out on the sofa for 3.5 hours - all those late nights (and the maths test) finally catching up with me. I also took some medicine so don't know whether that was to blame. My DD was playing one last game on cbeebies b4 bed and I had to say to her get your brother to put you to bed as I am falling asleep. I was out like a light that quick!
Oh well at least it saved me from shopping temptation... there is still tomorrow tho!:eek:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Personally, I'd give the parent some money to put towards the activity..... as long as the parent was not some DelBoy and would just pocket it!
Today the other parent said she was taking her child bowling, her child begged for my DD to be allowed to go - I offered her the money which she took and gave me the change.
One of my DS's friend's mums took my son to pizza hut for the £4 offer but told me about it in advance - I gave her the £4. If she has him round anyway and goes to pizza hut or McD without letting me know in advance I don't give her any money....
This whole money thing and kids and their friends and their parents can get very complicated!!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

very difficult when other peoples children are involved. my kids are teens now and when DD1 (15) has friends round I never see them apart from just to feed them. DD2( 13) however still expects me to entertain them and then she tries to stipulate what food we give them . i find it irritating.
when they were younger it was far worse as you have to be there all the time ,entertaining and mediating in arguments lol and other peoples kids only seem to eat chicken nuggets and chips !
If we offered to take DD's friends somewhere then we would pay , but I always send mine with money if someone else offers to take them .0 -
Hi all I had a disgustingly long lie in while OH has had to go back to work for the day. Still need to figure out what to have for lunch... Still need to buy that calculator and need to try and find more maths tests to practice on before I do the real thing later this weekend. And entertain the kids preferably without spending any money - oh what joy !
In the past I used to get really stressed when looking after the kids, but this time it hasn't been a problem. Last summer I think I finally managed to relax enough for it to be enjoyable.
Hope you all have a great weekendAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Afternoon,
I love reading the stories about kids, holidays etc....I have all this to look forward too.....well one day
Glad you managed a long lie in today, my OH decided to wake me up because, I quote..... ' Karen, I can't sleep'.....seriously it's like living with a child :rotfl: On a positive note being up means that I have blitzed the flat and feeling rather alive today :j Off to OH's parents for dinner tonight so no cooking for me today either
Have a lovely weekend,

Karen sympathies re your OH I think I would have been really annoyed!

This seems to be a good site for practicing numerical reasoning tests on. The first test I did I got most wrong but it shows you the solutions and I was getting really simple things wrong poss out of nerves. The second one I got 26 out of 30 right so that has really cheered me up. It probably took me over an hour tho and really I need to be faster than that. I think I will have a wee rest and then practice test 3. They show you the solutions tho so you can see where you went wrong.
My problem seems to be stating ratios the right way round and know where the divide a by b or b by a and stuff like that... I must conquer this and then hopefully I can at least hold my head up with whatever result I end up with.
I went into town and spent far more money than planned but we won't go there (less than £30 but probably more than £20). I did buy my DD a couple of drinks bottles and a new lunch bag as under the new regime they are back on sandwiches next week so some of it was legit (but that does mean some wasn't!)Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sorry, only just caught up.

Hi cheeky! You caught up... you went back and read all the pages you missed !! wow wee:rotfl:
I still have sunday school prep to do - why do I volunteer for these things? I really don't know. I should have been singing as well but strangely I didn't think I could be in two places at once so I declined that one...
I feel exhausted just thinking about it- do you thinking playing spider solitaire is the same as preparing?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
