HI SC and others.... My DS has done a practice SATs paper - he needs to do one a day for the rest of the week. My DD has a friend over to play and I have some gorgeous lamb in the oven for later ... the kids were kind to me and I had a really long undistubed lie in so feel better...
But best news - I have an interview for a job I applied for 2-3 weeks ago next Tuesday:j...
SC - DD off to Paris? That sounds fun - I went with school when I was 13 or 14 tooAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Err sorry. Can't quite hear you? Must be my hearing...............

GG - you are throwing away £64 a week - WHY?
MrsCmr - Hopefully one day I might join you in this ebay challenge.... I certainly have enough stuff - not convinced it would sell tho LOL. I did try ages ago to get my OH to list some stuff for me but he never did. I have never managed to get a working paypal account set up and I've clung to that excuse since I joined erm
(in July - runs and hides... )
Karen hope your overtime goes okay....
Had a gorgeous lamb dinner for tea - and there is enough left to stretch until tomorrow - in the past we would have just eaten it all today regardless! Now we make things stretch.
MrsC My kids are 11 and 5 (almost 6). The SATs practice is part of DS's homework. I did manage to peel him away from his electronics to go on a bike ride where he met up with a friend and now he has gone to play with a different one. He did his sats practice first tho. He is changing before my eyes currently. He VOLUNTEERED for extra SATS tuition 3 lunchtimes a week for 2-3 weeks and just casually told us about it after. He convinced his friend to go with him. That was amazing - he has always been quite laid back. One of his friends left primary school with all level 5s and he has set himself the target of doing the same. I am so proud of him.:D He went to his nan's for a few days and in that time he appeared to grow a couple of inches - seriously  He is nearly as tall as me - but then I was 5ft5 at 12! (I grew a little bit still after that)
My DD loves school - she told us at tea that she was enjoying the holidays but she liked her new teacher too and wasn't sure which she wanted more the holiday or to go back and see the new teacher !!!:rotfl:My OH and I looked at each other and commented on the difference between boys and girls!
Someone I know rang me earlier - they are losing their job too - so tried to give them some advice... This person introduced me to Martin Lewis by leaving his diet book lying around but has never discovered the forums for themselves... Tried to convince them to join in.
I really value the support and encouragement from you all :A - Thanks guys it certainly makes life less lonely!:cool:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I remember DD's doing sats in y6 and Y9 and certainly when they were in junior school the teachers were completely obsessed, all they cared about was their position in the league tables

they have stopped sats here now i think
hope DS does well0 -
SH - i have 3 boys 4, 8, 13 so im thinking there are only sats for 13yr old? hmm maybe school might do surprise sats for 8 yr old? 4 yr old [dont make me laugh!].
yeah the thing is about ending yr 6 with level 5's which my ds1 did. we still do 11+ here so we have the extra stress of that.
mrs GG - i assume u mean jc as in job centre? i had never been in one till last yr. i felt like a freak in there [sorry to peep who do go and get on ok] but i feel odd talking to a 12 yr old [obviously she wasnt really 12] clerical assistant who was gonna decide if i got something. clearly for some reason due to being self emp i got nothing. waste of time. and grimsters!
happy wednesday...

If you don't already print money off coupons for your shopping try it. I successfully used 30% coupons at Mr Ts today about £3.50. Unfortunately I have blown the grocery challenge as I spent £123 :eek::eek:in Asda in a single shop... I have been aiming for £60-70 a week spend. I made the mistake of going for a big rather than little trolley!
On a positive note I did manage to get a bratz game for my DD's birthday for £6 reduced from £24 but that is not included inthe overall spend above!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

You can apply on line (24 HOURS A DAY) or by phone. You could take your termination letter with you. They will want to know why your last job ended - acceptable reasons include redundancy or fixed term contract. If you were sacked or left of your own accord they may impose a penalty where you don't get any money for a bit. they will need proof of address like a utility bill and proof of national insurance number like a wage slip or p45.
You wear what you like - jeans or something more formal if you prefer. In return for promising to look for a job 3 x a week they give you dosh. You do have a 3 days waiting period where you won't qualify. They will however pay interview expenses IMMEDIATELY but you have to get them agreed in advance and the form to them in advance - you can have details missing on the form like the address and they will still pay - provided they are included on your after interview form. I thus got about £50 of interview expenses last week....
Swallow your pride go for it. With the amount of people currently unemployed it is fairly obvious that some of us still want a job. The fact that you are getting interviews will pleasantly shock and amaze them and put you in their good books!:rotfl:It certainly did in my case....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
