 about the car - one of my worst fears!

I think you need to decide when you have been interviewed about the jobs, just go along and see how you feel about them afterwards. After all, is this just a stepping stone to your portfolio career?

Did you look at the OU course?
I think you are right - see if I get an interview and what I feel about the place after that. One of my biggest problems with interviews is if I want the job too much - I don't tend to get it. Hopefully this will at least help my interview performance if I am not too wedded to the outcome and raise my self-belief!

On the open university - it is strange I have limited qualms paying £4200 for an MA but object to £655 for a course module.....

I would hope that this is a step to a portfolio career - but worry I could just get sucked in to this kind of revolving game....

One of the problems at the last company was it was a low profit company and didn't value its staff.... This the 20 mile away one is a much higher profit company so it can certainly value its staff if it wants to so could be a better place to work... but who knows!!!! Still need to get the job - or a job yet...

I would be very tempted to take the job and get rid of the debt in a year, if you did that you can then persue your dream without any doubts. Dont do it though if you think it would really get you down, it would be no good if you make yourself ill in that year.

Part one - I agree - just a year at decent money eg the 20 miles plus away job, would make a massive difference to our finances.

Part two - That's the question I don't know the answer to... and which potentially haunts me....:o

Plus first question from my daughter - what time would I get home at night if I was offered the job - ouch! According to multimap the job should take 42 minutes to get to - so realistically probably add 20 mins to that at rush hour.....

I still need to decide whether to apply for a job on my door step - needs to be in by the end of Friday.... Much less money, but 2 miles each way travel and therefore no travel cost to speak of....

I think you should apply - less money than you would like, is better than no money if you have no job!

Yes if you get offered all 3 jobs you'll have a nice but difficult decision but if you don't apply it can't happen! It's good that jobs you can apply for are about though..

    hi hypno and verbatim

I think you are right. If I apply for the local job then I would be home sometime between 5.15pm and 6pm which would be fab and might only have to leave the house around 8.30am. This would give me a lot of free time still for my family and potentially to write and coach in.

My biggest issue is that this last year has been very haphazard and on a CV it is easier to gloss over but on an application form - it is for a council - they tend to investigate to the nth degree everywhere you have ever worked!

I will apply tho - need to do it by 5pm tomorrow but can be electronic. I have also spent today searching for a writing extract to send the freelance writing company but it must all be in the loft so I am going to have to get OH to try and find the relevant boxes for me. In theory I should have an electronic copy somewhere but not found any sign of that either....

Well done on the weightloss SH, do you have a goal in mind or are you just seeing how it goes? My BMI today was 36.67, dont know how I (I ate 2 kitkats yesterday) did it but I am really pleased.

Hope the application doesnt take too long, I hate filling them in. Its almost as bad as updating your CV after neglecting it for a couple of years.

Hi lunar - haven't found the electronic files yet - OH not been in the loft. The freelance company have sent me some sample briefs - they look really complicated for the money tho!! But might help teach me my craft....

I still need to do the application form but can do that in the morning.

Used bingoport amazon vouchers to pay for a black ink cartridge today - I do love it when we can do things like that!

On my weight want to lose at least 3 stone but not set a timescale - just a desire at the moment....

Think you've made the right choice re the jobs, I would love to work nearer to home. I commute two hours every day and it is tiring and even more so if the train lets me down, there's also the added cost of the travelling!
