    hi Bevan

I think with woohoo - the person just needs to join and play occasionally. I didn't keep your email address so if you could pm me that would be great!

I am on 30 gold stars at the mo - need 200 to redeem for £10 - Se seems to find it easy but not found her knack yet!

Well today I have applied for a local job at the right money with a car. It would fit the profile of the job I wanted that I wrote for myself a year ago! (But is in existing field). It is also permanent.

I have also made an enquiry about a job on around a third less money but which would be less hours and potentially more positive working for the council - it is only a temporay position but if I did decide to study might fit in better.....

So I've broken the procrastination barrier. I definitely need an income. Looking at our finances - if we were angels could manage if I brought in an income of around £350 - more realistically though I need at least £700.... (if I want to study would need more).

OH's payrise we think is worth about £50 a month which will help and a £40 payment can stop after June so - there's £90. From July we expect our mortgage to drop significantly so hopefully this is just a short term issue....

Yesterday I read a book called Compassionate Coaching by Arielle Essex - I thought it was really good. What she suggests you do if you are re-examining your life direction is to list out some of the things you want - and then list what you hope to get from those things..... Her argument is that often what you are trying to get to can be achieved by other means.

For example, I would like to be a writer - but also need an immediate income so can pay debts, live etc.... I could continue with my day job and start to write at night - and if that was working for me I could then give up the day job....

Or I am interested in being a coach - but part of that is that one type of books I would be interested in writing would be self-help books - however most of these quote client case studies to illustrate their point. Therefore my desire to be a coach - is as much about getting material - so I can then write....

I would like to be a motivational speaker - but the same applies as in writing - they like you to be positively influencing people already - and preferably have some uniqueness - before accepting you as a speaker - which is why for me the three goals are inter-linked.

Still working on clarifying those goals. Read another book today too (I am a fast reader!) called When anger scares you by Lynch. That was quite thought provoking. One of the things I am conscious of is how easy it is to self-sabotage your hopes and dreams. Debt, depression, anger, even my knee pain could all be considered a form of self-sabotage - a barrier to my success and an excuse for not being more successful. I need to somehow accept myself but challenge some unhelpful behaviours and attitudes so I have a better chance of realising my dreams....

    hmmmm.....

Now got another 2 gold stars woohoo! LOL

I have just applied for a role as a Management Trainer - will be interesting to see what response I get. They only require you to be a people manager - I think it is like an NVQ Training and Assessing type role....

I kind of feel I should apply for what interests me and then sit back and see what comes of it! Wish me luck!

Wow so much going on for you right now, good luck in your job application. I actually trained as an NVQ trainer and assessor as part of my job. Cant say I enjoy is much though, I love teaching, I hate the paper work to go with it.

The thought of doing motivational speaking makes my blood run cold! I sometimes go into the university as a guest lecturer. normally I have groups of 12-15, one time I found 60+ people in the room and just wanted to run for my life!!!

hi lunar - I think the paperwork would probably drive me insane long term too. I would rather be a freelance trainer than an NVQ assessor but I think it would give me some useful experience that might then make going freelance easier? What do you think?

I find public speaking scary but it can also be energising. Would like to be better at it - but need more practice!

Just applied for a role as a Management Consultant - something else I have always been interested in. I am conscious that this is a very scatter gun approach to finding my ideal job - but I think it is because quite a few different types of career interest me - and I would be interested in some feedback on whether others (ie recruiters) consider me ready/suitable for those roles yet. I can then make decisions accordingly.

I am someone that needs social contact but also quiet times - and someone that desperately needs intellectual stimulation - so quite a few different careers could fit that. I love problem solving and analyzing - and being needed.... hmmmm

  • SH, could you refer me for Woohoo? Hope you're doing well today! I turned up at the wrong hospital for secret second job so had to drive another 15miles and lost an hour's pay-rubbish, still did 2 hours though. As I keep saying, it's not just the money, it's a guaranteed job for when I leave the army.

How stupid, going to the wrong place!!

Anyway, you sound so much more positive so well done brave lady.

Hi CSA glad that you managed to get to second job - disappointing about the hour... Happy to referr you to woohoo but could you pm me your email please! I never keep email addresses so you may have given it me before but I would have deleted it...

Thanks Jellie - glad I am not boring everyone!
I've had an email back from a job I asked a question on earlier - it is a 10-11 month job in my home town - less money than I am used to earning but no travel costs.... So that might be a goer if I can find my way through their application process...
