Happy new year to you and your family
I too am going to embark on a decluttering mission. always fraught because its not my clutter its DH's I have given him ample warning that I am going to do this so he can salvage anything he really wants, (he wont) and then he will grumble about me chucking stuff away lol
on the debt front, you sound like you are on top of everything and maximising your income with quidco etc - well done you. I am hoping I will be debt free next month with a final payment to my CC. I cant wait :j then I will have to turn my attention to DH's debt and start all over again with his

Morning SH.
The declutter theme is strong in diary land methinks. Aside from the usual paperwork and 'stuff' I have bucketloads of beads and findings. Used to love jewellery making, but it's all so disorganised. If it was sorted I know I'd get back to it - and make some cash too. As for banishment - one year I actually sold it all only to buy more...
Being a totally disorganised person is rubbing off on my sons. They say children mimic, so I need to start setting an example.
Happy Birthday to DSDC.

Here's to finding things  and not buying replacements all the time!
V - did you find the lost license before you had to replace it or after?
It has been lost for aaages, over a year I think so the theory pass cert is no longer valid. She has failed a couple of times and then just left it while she was at uni so didn't apply for a new licence. She keeps saying she'll do an intensive week where you have a test at the end but that won't happen in the forseeable future as she's abroad this year and back at uni for her final year from Sep.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -

Happy Birthday to DS
Home and bargains or similar had some cheap craft boxes recently - which you could use to sort your beads... perhaps do it in front of the TV one day... I must admit now I am on mse and bingoport so much - it is hard to fit in the other things that used to get done while watching tv like .... ironing.... or clean clothes sorting... Luckily I have now roped OH in - I got fed up of how much I was doing - and strangely he hasn't dropped dead or developed some sort of disease :rotfl:from having to pull his weight more - so result
Hi Verbatim - I did try to quote you too but it didn't work! Good luck to your DD when she does decide to do the test!
Hope you all have a great day today - I return to the grindstone tomorrow as do OH and DD but not DS - he gets an extra day so is going to a friends tomorrow!
Most of the food is now prepared for the family but they have not turned up yet... I said after 2pm they evidently took me literally! We are usually late going to them so I suppose it is only the same thing!
Kitchen and lounge are looking fab tho as a result! Hope it goes okay - its being a while since my BIL and family visited here - could even be 2 years!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

In-law visit went well.
I got a fire pit for xmas and we had fun letting the kids roast marshmallows and throwing things on the fire!
Unfortunatley I also lit some indoor candles and when I was moving one have dripped wax all down my brand new cardigan! Solutions anyone?
DS has now fully paid for his computer - and now has £20-30 to himself! So that is good.
OH has now gone out with a friend.
In that book on organisation is also talks about only keeping things around you that you absolutely love (and only buy things you have been in love with and wanted for weeks rather than on impulse). It also talks about making space for things you really love.
So today I cleared a shelf that has a beautiful tiffany style lamp - I got OH to replace the bulbs and today was able to appreciate it again for the first time in 6-12 months! Now that was worth doing. It is in my eyeline when I am on my laptop and I deliberately bought it and placed it to rival the TV on the other side of the room - I thought it was that gorgeous. Now I can really appreciate it again!
Hope you all have a refreshing night's sleep - and that those of us having to "go back" tomorrow - have a better day than we expect!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

With regards to the wax, put some brown paper over it and iron it, the paper should soak up the wax.

Thanks for sharing these gems from the book.

There is definitely a big decluttering theme going on at the moment. I have a huge bookcase in the living room and the problem with it is that the shelves are very deep and its right next to where I sit, so it tends to get full of 'stuff'.
At the moment, aside from the books, I can see:-
3 bottles of ink - 3 'posh' pens in boxes
mug full of cheap pens
4 candles
chinese jug thingy with hairbrushes in
4 sudoko books
3 bottles perfume
1 basket with cleanser, moisturiser etc.
camera
2 sets playing cards
various notebooks, pens and pencil cases
and thats not counting the bottom shelf that I can't see from here. And of course, its got tinsel all over it too!
If I moved this case to another room, it would look so much better and wouldn't get cluttered as it wouldn't be so easy to just put stuff on. So I can appreciate what you say about clearing one shelf.
Craft stuff has been cleared out of here, and is now cluttering the dining room table instead. Like you, if it was better organise, would do more with it.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
