Thanks jellie - I try. We have just made the most of pizza hut's happy hour deal - and had a meal out for 4 with drinks for £16. The kids wanted puddings on top so they paid for them themselves bless!
I've felt in a weird mood all day. Don't know why - think perhaps I am nervous still about starting this job after the last 2 false starts. I have done some cleaning, tidying, hoovering, decluttering and paper shredding across 3 rooms today. Shame there are some rooms I never get to LOL!
Well for any jobhunters out there - this job offer came due to my linkedin profile - so that was definitely worth doing. I now have 32 connections, don't often update my status but do have it set to looking for work. I have 3 recommendations on there - and have recommended 3 people. I have joined about 8-10 professional groups and have answered at least as many profession specific questions.
Hope everyone is doing okay. What are you all getting up to?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The only advice I can offer as fdar as the exhaustion is concerned is try not to beat yourself up if housework or something slides - not that I follow my own advice!
am expecting to be back to normal by December - was off for 4 months so expect it to take 4 months back at work to adjust!I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.I work to live, not live to work.I love to live & live to love.Good enough is exactly that.0 -
I think you are absolutely right! The thing is I know from previous experience how absolutely wiped I am going to feel once I start - that is why I am trying to sort the house out a bit now and probably why I am worrying! Next week I will try to pre-cook and freeze some meals ready for when I start....Lurker1972 wrote: »The only advice I can offer as fdar as the exhaustion is concerned is try not to beat yourself up if housework or something slides - not that I follow my own advice!

My front room, hallway and kitchen are nearly respectable enough for visitors now so the hard work of the last few days is paying off. I have filled a bin bag with stuff I have decluttered as well as another with shredding! Not finished yet tho! Will need to clean the loos tomorrow too!
I am also sat here shivering so I have given in and put the heating on... even then I am thinking of nipping upstairs and finding my woolly socks!:rotfl:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks KJ and sorry things are so rough for you. We've had years like that but thankfully despite the tough times this year we seem to have managed to remain positive and optimistic - probably with considerable help from this site as it gave me a daily focus.... So thanks guys!
Well been into town and got some ribbon (98p) for my sister's gift box and some metal tags for 70p each that say "with love" on. May post a piccie later... They look beautiful

HI Claire and BTD nice to have you along and thanks for the support.
Well the whole of downstairs other than the garage and utility are now tidy. Our guests were lovely so we have had a lovely night in. Shame I have to move loads of stuff off the bed to be able to go to sleep later tho LOL! We planned ahead this time - and have invited another couple we would like to get to know better for dinner tomorrow. The food is largely pre-cooked and is currently defrosting. We didn't want to have to tidy up twice
LOL
Had a good weekend so far. Singing tomorrow at church and I quite enjoy that so that's positive... Kids are happy, we are happy, life feels quite good. Seem to have got over my stress... Need to hurry up and go to bed tho - but did get up late today so not that tired yet!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi el - my son is fab. The new job will still be 4.5 days so most of the week is paid. Start a week tomorrow
Latest visitors went well. I think us socialising more again is a really positive sign (of our mental health). We have been rather insular for a while so hopefully this might be the start of some new friendships. I also spent time with a friend last week who was quite down and was really honest with them about how down I have felt at other times in my life - and apparently that really helped - so that was quite validating. I tend to feel a bigger sense of achievement from things like that rather than just from work.
OH loved the food this weekend - we still have stew left from today and chicken left from yesterday for another day.
Just won about £5.50 on my free daily scratchcards - so just able to withdraw £13! Really pleased about that.
Hope everyone else having a good weekend.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
