  • Hi SH,

Sorry to hear about the job. They don't know what they've lost.

Fingers crossed for the permanent one and as Shaun said, there is a silver lining you just can't see it yet.

    Big hugs to you.

    Hi SH,

Sorry to hear about the Temporary job coming to an end.

Just as Shaun said you have to move on and not take it to heart. At the end of the day they weren't right for you. Don't put any energy into this set back and concentrate on the permanent role, that is the important one.

I have had quite a few temp contracts and have had to learn not to take it too personal when being pushed/jumping. Don't allow this slight blip to dent your confidence.

    Onwards and upwards.

    Hugs

Thanks Shaun, Tea, Sal and Betty!

Well I had a nice time with my friends last night.... They were very supportive. My OH has been brilliantly supportive and at the end of the day we are going to have 5 weeks money that if at the interview they'd said we are not sure you will fit into our culture - that I wouldn't have had. It also frees me up to immediately take the perm job if that one comes off.... My OH's attitude is he knows people who are having life and death operations on loved ones at the moment - this is only money and not the end of life as we know it.... I think men find it much easier to bounce back though....

I have I am afraid been on a little shopping expedition but I did manage to get a mascara and lipstick free with purchase by negotiating so it was a teensy bit mse....

Not told my kids, mil or parents yet.... Not picked up the kids yet either... Just feel raw still! Have had a lunch date with OH which is nice. His motorcycle is in for MOT today and they let him work from home which is a lot more "friendly" than they used to be... Otherwise he was going to have to cycle 30 odd miles round trip as we only have one car - and at the time we thought I would be working today!

Need to start packing for Cornwall and find where the other set of car keys went to. Obviously need to finalise my timesheet and expenses too but I think I will leave that until tomorrow. The agency concerned still haven't been in touch which I think is really poor!

Men definitely find things easier to bounce back from, they also have the ability to not worry over things, sometimes wish I was born a man!! lol
A little shopping spree is called for in times like this :) and free mascara and lippy? very well done :D
Telling others is like ripping off a plaster, you don't really want to do it yet know you have to, hurts for a little while but then soon eases :)
Cornwall is the best place to go and relax so you can come back refreshed and ready for the next stage to the permanant position :D

I often think men have it so much easier. When I gave birth to a daughter second time around I had to confront all those feelings and try and "make it ok" that she was a girl. :o I was so upset for her thinking of all the traumas she would go thro as a girl that I didn't think a boy would go thro. I must have done something right or my mil did as I have never met a more girly girl and yet I was almost a tom boy. Trying to live up to no 1 son's (my oh so perfect brother's) reputation!

You are so right - it hurts like hell  but I will only be able to access help and support if I bite the bullet and do it :o I feel embarassed more than anything and worried in case it affects my reputation and ability to get future jobs.

I am sooooooooooooo looking forward to this break. 5 star luxury accommodation for free - just hope that they give us at least 1 separate bedroom preferably 2. Apparently they haven't allocated the accommodation yet....

    Thanks el

Just took the kids old school uniform to a charity so hopefully someone will get the benefit of that - cheered me up a bit!

Also spoken to the agency - they said they had been told it wasn't my technical competence that was in question - purely cultural fit. They were very much on my side and feeling sympathetic about it. They are perfectly happy to look for another role for me and don't hold this against me at all which makes me feel a bit better. The manager had said to the agency and to me "another role, another place, another time - she would be perfect just not for here with the sensitivities they have at the moment". They are going to look into when I will get paid the final monies etc but confirmed I was definitely getting a month's money so made me feel a bit better.

OH has had his motorbike MOTd - the bill came to around £140 but needs up to £500 spending on it in the next month or two to keep it on the road. He will try and get that price down to just parts by doing the labour himself but still not ideal moneywise. He wants to upgrade his motorbike and run 2 cars (we only have 1 at the mo) but is happy to wait until the outcome of this perm job interview...

I need to carry on looking for my car keys and getting ready for Cornwall. I am babysitting for a friend tonight - 7 kids!!

Hi el - they are actually extremely well behaved - good parents obviously.... One of them is the 2 year old I borrowed on the trip to the resort I mentioned... The first time I babysat for them I was scared stiff but it has got easier....
