For those who have had their wine delivered 8).......please can you tell me what amount you got charged and then what got refunded. I am expecting delivery tonight and dont know whether to push for refund or ask them to honour the 48 bottles I ordered at 1.25 per bottle....
P.S What does it taste like ???Nice to save.0 -
Anyway, a nice Tesco man delivered it, I signed for it, and that's that as far as I'm concerned. Six boxes for free ;D
I'm still bewildered by it all though :o ;)
I was/am also puzzled... by I think I can offer an explanation (more like a theory, actually ;D )
My theory is that if they slod it at £1.25/bottle they would have to pay more ££ than the selling price in excise duites (since duties are levied primaraly as a flat rate per bottle unlike VAT which is a %)
Whereas if the whole lot is FREE, then it's not a sale and therefore no excise duties would be applicable, so Tesco is better off...
hmm... if this is correct, it's not so altruistic after all, but still full respect to Tesco for their open mindedness and ingenuity.
Can nayone in the know corroborate the above explanation/theroy?
;D ;D0 -

I'd love to be able to corroborate your theory but tbh I think it was a mistake made by whoever packaged the cases (because it does look like it's part of a promotion doesn't it?) and Tesco's realising they might have been taken to task over it.
I'm no wine connoiseur so even if I'd seen it at £1.25 I'd probably have overlooked it for something a bit more expensive
I'm just bewildered that I actually got the cases for free and delivered to boot! ;D
And dave? It MUST be a freebie. But I'd also like to see it in black and white for everyone as not all have received the mail saying so.0 -
For the record, the red tastes fine ;D- in fact the world's best £1.25 wine no doubt. White isn't so clever, still drinkable though.0

I also ordered the wine but I had no email before it was delivered. So I rang the number on the invoice and queried the fact that as far as I was concerned half my order was missing.....
The lad i spoke to checked with his supervisor who confirmed that the order would be free ( didn't have the check to ask about free delivery)
He was unable to generate an email and all refunds being done manually.....!
If you have had no email I suggest ring up and ask where the other half of the order is. ???
Happy Christmas ;D0 -
Renaissance White 6 X 75cl Special Offer - 27% OFF!
CASE OF 12 x BOTTLES (equivalent to £1.25 per bottle)
From the Tesco wine store under special offers.
This WAS what was on Tesco's website btw. It specifically said 12 bottles which was why I had to buy more after Tesco's delivery.
and rob831? Good on you for thinking on your feet but that's exactly how people should react regarding this particular offer IMO.
Bet you thought it was Christmas didn't you?
;D0 -
MIne arrived tonight and after short chat with CS was told that a total refund incl delivery would be made by 30/12 to my cc...... ;D ;D
Will get my vote for POTMNice to save.0 -
This is a copy of an e-mail a friend received from Tesco after ordering the same wine with the same information i.e. 12x bottles at £1.25 each.
You recently placed an order for one or more cases of Renaissance
wine. We regret that this case was incorrectly advertised as a
case of 12 bottles. The case actually contains 6 bottles. However
in recognition of our error and as a gesture of good we have
decided to refund the full price of the wine. The refund will
appear on your account after we have delivered your order.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience we may have
caused you.
I Hope that Tesco will be extending the arm to everyone that placed the order. A Lot of people have the e-mail. Bit puzzled why I haven't received it.
Just in case I had the foresight to take a digital picture of the information on screen and took a screen shot also.
I look forward to your reply
Adrian
Thank you for your email.
I have been advised that you will be refunded for this wine and therefore will receive it free of charge, if there is no refund back onto your payment card details within the next 10 days please advise and we will action this refund as a gesture of goodwill.
If you have any further queries do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk

Full refund including delivery charge? It gets better and better
In fact, as I used an evoucher code...it might even end up that Tesco are paying me £5 to take this wine off their hands
......maybe that's just a bit too much to ask for ;D0 -
Abit of a result there !!!!
It's a decent drink, infact it's exceptional for the price of nowt per bottle !!!!! :Panger, denial, acceptance0
