Have made the "wrong" PAD today - £3.21 to Egg. Think I got the wrong day, but hey-ho it's only a penny.
Paulgonnabedebtfree - that's interesting stuff. I don't think I'd have the patience to do all that work tracing my family, altho I think my brother has done some investigating with varied success. It must be very satisfying for you!
See you all later.

I find it quite fascinating. Thanks to the internet and the recent availability of the 1911 census records, it is a lot easier than it once was. The household in which my grandfather grew up had the same lodger in 1911 as they did in 1901. I just can't imagine someone remaining a lodger in the same house for ten years these days. Also, the occupations were so different then too. Almost the entire family was dependent upon the railway industry for income and some stayed with that their entire working life. Think I would have died young from boredom LOL.0 -

Morning everyone!Thank you for all the best wishes 'bout hubby. His last op was cancelled but this one went ahead thankfully.I went to see him yest and was told by the surgeon that it went well.:D He looks shocking though!!:eek: They fixed his wonky bit on his nose so he has two v black/purple eyes (and 2 tampons stuck up his nose!lol)He was pretty out of it on morphine and had a oxygen mask. The broken jaw was giving him the most pain obviously. He had tubes on either side of his neck to drain the blood.Stitches everywhere-I was quite horrified at 1st (didn't let it show though).Poor mite.

Quick question - what do you do with your PADs? I.e. yesterday I made a payment online to pay some of my credit card. But today if I only have a pound - if I put that in my savings jar towards something thats classed as a PAD right?
Another question - would you pay a pound off your credit card online or build it up until its a bigger sum to pay off?
Just getting my head around this PAD-ing marlarky - looks like putting the fun in paying debts off!
Cheers! K xxSeptember 2011 Bride

Each person does it their own way. I only log a PAD if it's some kind of debt repayment rather than a household bill. Some people only log paymentrs that are over and above their minimums. I personally would not log putting money in a jar - only when a debt payment occurs.
I do have BACS bill payments set up for all the cards on which I owe money. I sometimes pay mere pennies on these if it's a tight time. I also have direct debits for the minimum payments set up. I log both of these as PADs and also the repayments for two personal loans that I have. I don't PAD the mortgage payments. I may start doing that when I've finished repaying the other debts (sometime around the 22nd century the way I'm going LOL).
There are no rules but I would suggest that if you PAD a jar payment, then you don't PAD it again when you use it to pay the debt as it would be counting the same money twice. It is entirely up to you though.0 -
Hi KayCee10 and welcome,
I think everyone just does it different depending on what suits them, at the moment I'm trying to get rid of my Cap 1 credit card so have been transferring a bit daily or sometimes if I know what I want to pay over the next few days and know I wont have time I just add it all up into one. You can do whatever suits you, I also put some in a jar from time to time, it really is up to you. Sorry for rambling!!!!
My pad today is £5.00 to Cap 1, over halfway there now, I know it was small to start with but seeing it disappear really gives me an incentive with the others.
Happy friday everyone, off to see to poorly 1yo now, bless her, oh joy!!!
xx
