    Evening all,

I've fallen off the wagon for the umpteenth time and am feeling somewhat annoyed with myself. I've been feeling rotten today and had to drive my partner into town for a course when I really wanted to stay in bed. We talked each other into having lunch in Pizza Hut, wooops!

I think I have a cold or flu coming on and I know I always crave crap when I'm sick. Does anyone have any tips for eating healthy when you're under the weather and cant be arsed to cook?

My comfort food is to chuck a huge potato in the microwave and have it with a full tub of cottage cheese with chives. I love it and it's very quick to make and sooo filling! It ticks all the boxes for healthy fast food :)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last

Thanks, that sounds just the thing! I'll give that a go later as I'm really craving carbs at the moment!

Mmmm. Yeah I second the baked potato option. I usually have with beans and a big salad with lot's of cucumber in it, or beans on toast with bread from HEB (it feels like junk food to me, even though on SW it's fine to have!)

Also for comfort food, I like a really nice stir fry with wholewheat noodles, lot's of soy sauce and cooked for a long time so it goes all soggy and stodgy, my DH hates even the smell of it, lol, so I have it on evenings when he is out! :D

I have a cold :( thought I had one coming on. I feel strangely better today though and not so down in the dumps.

I had boiled eggs and wholemeal bread soldiers for breakfast which was scrummy. I've also measured out the amount of milk I'm allowed, I never bothered doing that before!

For lunch I fancy a baked spud with beans, then for dinner either pasta and home made sauce or gammon and chips.....that'll be ok for an EE day I think?

One question, I've had a lemsip sachet this morning, do you need to count syns for them?

Yes, I agree; I'm sure if you go to a class the consultant there will tell you how to maintain tho'. You perhaps just have to have another HE or something. I am just plodding on my own with my books from a couple of years ago so don't know what I'll do when I get to my happy weight - maybe someone here can help. Interesting you say you don't drink now; I gave up in April. My last attempts at SW failed because I was kidding myself that a bottle of wine a night didn't really count... I was strict on myself with syns and HEs but I could not resist that bottle in the evening. I think I was on the way to a real problem with it, so I'm so happy to have got out of that.

Good luck anyway, keep us posted of how it goes!!

Yeah hopefully by then I will be able to afford to go to a class, at the minute I just do it on my own, although when I set my mind to something I am very determined and last time I did SW I was very young and didn't really try very hard, and wasn't in a place where I was really bothered by my weight. So I lost a fair bit but didn't feel any incentive to maintain.

I've not gained any weight for 4 years + so seem to maintain my heavier weight OK, just don't think it will be the same with a lower weight, although I'm already finding I can't eat as much as you used to (my main issue is portion size as I do eat a very healthy diet, just too much of it!) so fingers crossed I will magically become one of those 'oh no I couldn't possibly fit in another bite' types! :D lol! I'm convinced I actually do have hollow legs! :D

Yeah thats the prob with drink, it is easy to not bother syning it, also I found that I would just lose track lol! One drink would become 6 etc so wouldn't bother to count it at all. I honestly don't miss it at all, now and never thought I would hear myself saying that! Glad you are finding it ok too!

Thanks for your encouragement it really helps, especially as I don't go to a class ATM, it's great to hear of other people going through the same thing.

    Fern.

Just wondering if anyone knows how many syns in a pot noodle curry flavour? I have searched syns online and can not find them listed.

I used to love pot noodles but can't bring myself to eat them these days! I still think they're yum but they seem almost naughty if that makes sense?!

Why is it that when I feel rough I have a raging appetite?! I had breakfast only an hour ago and I have the munchies again!

I think a plate of SW chips is in order, it seems wrong to eat them when you're trying to lose weight but if they say you can then who I am I to argue?!

  • I joined SW some months ago and didn't like going to class because I have LOADS of weight to lose and felt awkward because everyone was only a little bit overweight and no-one had lost lots either. I then gave up:wall: :o and decided to spend all summer eating rubbish and so now I am determined to lose as I KNOW that the SW plan works. Last night at about 2am when I couldn't sleep for worrying about my weight I came downstairs and went online and joined Bodyoptimise (the on-line SW), and chose the option which gets you a subscription to the magazine and also the books. I am going to try and do Extra Easy but am nervous because I can eat HUGE amounts of food and can't quite get my head around eating green and red on the same day. I have a few questions and hope that some of you may be able to help me:

On EE can you only eat at mealtimes, or can you have snacks?

If you can have snacks must they only be fruit or superfree foods?

Have some of the syn values recently changed? I used to like the Sainsburys BGTY egg mayo deli filler which was free and I just looked it up and saw that it was 1 syn per tbs. Have other foods changed too?

Does EE work as well as the old green and red days?

Can I have the ready cut up fruit which they sell in the salad isle in the supermarket? I like to buy the ready prepared melon and pineapple to have while I'm working.

Sorry if these questions sound really stupid.

If I follow EE strictly with 15 syns max a day, how much weight do you think I might lose by Christmas, given that I have 14 stone to lose in total:o

    Thanks in advance!

In regards to the fruit already cut up , im not sure although i dont count them if there just like half a apple cut up a bit of pinapple and a few grapes because id eat more if i ate it as a whole.

If its only the little punnets then i dont count it to be honest.. because if a WHOLE melon or a WHOLE pinapple is free then whats a tiny bit of melon or pinapple cut.. but i bet im wrong lol.
