Just a warning, but although some people do these, they are not technically a free food, and should be synned. They are classified as a 'misuse of free food' by SW.

If you play by the rules, avoid them - if you want to have them occasionally, then go ahead, but any more than occasionally may well affect your weight loss.

    sorry :o

Thanks, will leave those at the moment!

Can someone help with bbq food? Are there any other sausages than morrisons own brand healthy ones (can't remember exact name) that are free of syns on a extra easy day? I'm going to a bbq tomorrow and planning on taking my own food to stop any syns slipping in, I'm saving them for the alcohol!

Also if I made a pavlova base with egg whites and sweetner, then mixed tub of quark and muller yoghurt together and add some geletine spread over base and fridge til set, would I be right thinking that this would be a pavlova cheesecake free of syns or would this be another "misuse of free food"?!

Just deciding what to take tomorrow, am planning on taking a tub of virt fat free fromage frais with 42g half fat cheese (hea) with spring onions and chives mixed in as a dip

    Thanks for your help

  • I don't really understand how something can be a misuse of a free food, if its free surely as long as you aren't smothering something in butter, cream or fat etc then its still free food...........as long as its working then I will keep on doing it!!!

My understanding is that by doing stuff to normally free food can make it easier/quicker to digest energy content and reduce the feeling of being satisfied by it at the same time. The combination speeds up your available energy and leaves you wanting more sooner. Its a similar argument between simple and complex carbs. This can then have a knock on effect on raising insulin levels which also play a part in fat storage. People on a low GI diet are very focussed on this for example. For me SW seems to have removed the science of it whilst still adhering to it.

Does that make sense? I'm not medically trained though...

Now I have a question. I want to cook sweet and sour Quorn chunks tonight using a fresh pineapple. Will cooking chunks of it constitute food abuse or is this tollerated?

    Hi Everyone

I need to do something:o I have joined SW in the past and was a regular poster on the DFW slimming world tread for a while but I have lost the plot lately.

I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life and feel so down about it so I am seriously considering re-joining group.

Hopefully I can gain inspiration and support here too.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

omg just had to say that had the late night munchies yesterday, so I made SW chips for the first time and because i hadn't had an A choice i then sprinkled cheese over them. Talk about ultimate comfort food, and i had the sofa and telly all to myself - total bliss :D

Wow, cheesey chips are a delicacy around these parts and I had never thought of that. Hope you enjoyed them. Now what about deep fried battered mars bars? I think I will refer to chocolate and fat as a healthy C option :rotfl:

    Hi penny,
you may already have decided what to do but with a nice piece of lean steak I would always just lightly flash fry it and eat it rare or do a beef stir fry - with EE you can have rice with it too.
