morning, Ive been reading about Slimming World all last night, carnt really afford lessons (credit crunch!) so do you think its possible using forums like this etc and weighing in at Boots?Carn't understand, I thought on a green day you didnt eat meat but on SW website sample menu they have meat on it ???. I can eat meat/ non vegetarian but carnt understand the difference in red and green days then. also how can there be a syn value on say sausage if its a read day?love all these recpies that pop up, will try the baked bean lasagneany help appreicated. many thanks
  • Tracy04, welcome onboard, have you read the first page of this thread? Lots of explainations about the system and how to do it at home there. :D

Ref. the cooking wine: yes, I agree that technically the syns should probably reduce as the alcohol gets burnt off, but agree it will retain some for the sugar and other calories you won't get rid of. Probably best to err on the cautious side and count the syns for the whole lot. Do you have to use wine? What is it for? I don't cook with wine any more: a mixture of wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar and stocks are all I use these days in replacement of a bit of wine.
  • Summary of yesterday: AABB all used, 9.5 syns. Exercise: rode the horse for 3/4 hr, waitressed for 7.5 hours :j My feet are killing me from all the standing up!!!!

    Meal plan for today:

    b) 2 alpen light bars (B)
    l) HM leek, potato & cabbage soup & cheese (A)
    d) stir fry, although its currently just veg and noodles since I forgot to buy any quorn! I might simply have it without, or rinse some baked beans to have a bit of protein with it.

Got another B and A, might use the B on alpen bars to get me from 11.30 to 5.30 - what an odd shift for eating, I have just had lunch before 11am!
Syns: not sure, may decide to have a cheeky drink after work.
    Happy slimming today everyone! :T

thanks for answering my post, just printed off 7 day menus, do I choose one green say today then one red tomorrow ( ie 2 weeks worth of idea plans)
Asda Pasta in Sauce, Garlic & Herb, dried 120g pack

    red.gif Original 24½ Syns green.gif Green 2 Syns
have I got this right 241/2 syns if its red day - i guess cos its no meat in it

2 syns if its a green day - is this cos its convient food?

whats the difference between Extra easy plan and the red and green plan. Thanks
  • You may remember i'm naughty and weigh myself each day but this week it is helping as I am really struggling to loose my weekly 1kg. I guess after 2 stone i'm getting to the difficult stage. So I have increased my running to every other day and am back on track for monday's weigh in. I guess this is the way it might be from now on. 10kg to go and then i move onto EE for maintenance phase.

Smart price baked beans, red kidney beans, sweetcorn (all tinned), own brand smash, mug shots are 4 for £1.50 at the mo, Smart price pasta & sauce equivalents look very much the same as batchelors, but I can't get on syns online to confirm syns-wise, oh and not slimming but alberto balsam shampoo & conditioner is 3 4 £2 at the mo which I think is a real steal and I love the stuff!

Thanks for the tips about what to buy in Asda to suit the SW plan. I plan to do my first shop with them tonight. Does anyone else have any tips?

sorry to quote myself but I found the recipe, here it is if anyone fancies it. The whole family loves it and it freezes well. hope judds doesnt mind be reposting it

    .Servings | 4
Syns Per Serving | Green – Syn Free*
    * Add 6 Syns per serving if not using the Cheddar cheese as a Healthy Extra option

    Ingredients
    -Fry Light
    -2 large onions, finely chopped
    -2 red peppers, de-seeded & chopped
    -mushrooms (optional)
-2 x 400gm cans baked beans in tomato sauce
    -2 x 400gm cans chopped tomatoes
-salt & freshly ground black pepper to taste
    -2 cloves garlic, crushed
    -splash of Worcestershire sauce
    -splash of soy sauce
    -dried lasagne sheets
-168gm (6oz) reduced fat Cheddar cheese, grated*

    Method
    1. Pre-heat oven to 200C / 400F / Gas Mark 6.

    2. Heat a large pan sprayed with Fry Light and cook the onion, peppers, mushrooms and garlic for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft.

    3. Add the baked beans, chopped tomatoes, salt & pepper and the Worcestershire & soy sauces & mix together.

    4. Layer the tomato mixture alternately with the lasagne sheets in a large oven-proof lasagne dish, starting & ending with the tomato mixture.

    5. Cover with foil & bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle with the cheese and bake for a further 5-10 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbling.

You can of course vary the contents - I add much more garlic than the recipe suggests and also add several splashes of Hot Chilli Sauce (please note this is likely to incur some Syns)
It is very easy to make , quick and tasty

    Judds
