wannabedebtfree thats exactly how i feel, i am now in control and in particular i know if i want roast pots i can (i had three last night). But my point is i didn't eat the cheesecake because i didn't want to eat it just because it was there infront of me. If it had been my favourite thing to eat - i would have had it and cut out my syns elsewhere. It is all about making controlled and sensible choices.
  • Yep definately, I still enjoy my food and if I want something I have it, I too would have left the cheesecake as its not really my thing, but had it been a wedge of chocfudge cake, or a big creamy profiterole there would have been a fight to get it off me!!!

  • My Sunday eating........

    (Extra Easy)

B: 2 slices wholemeal toast (HEB) 2 tsp Marmalade (1 syn)

L: 2 Pagen Krisprolls (4 syns  what a waste of syns!) 1/2 tin tuna & extra lite mayo (1 syn) shape yogurt

D: Pork Chop, sweet potato mash, roasted carrots, leeks and parsnips, cauli, cabbage, peas and gravy (1 syn) 2 meringue nests (5 syns) with total 0% yogurt (although in future will save some syns for proper cream, it just wasn't the same!) and strawberries

S: Pink & White (2.5 syns), plum and satsuma

So very close on syns (14.5), my own fault for eating the pink and white before checking it :o, I've been trying to stay near 10, but its only one day........and my scales say I am down 5 lbs since last weigh in - I was away last week so its 2 weeks loss - lets hope it shows on Tuesday evening, I would much rather be weighed first thing in the morning in the nude!! I haven't had a HEA, but I have had plenty of yogurt for the calcium......

What I wanna know is - if rhubarb and rice are free why is a rhubarb
    muller rice 11 1/2 syns?

Because in that one little pot there's 226 calories, 40gms carbs (sugars) and 4½ gms fat.

Rice and rhubarb are free as you so rightly say, but not when they're cooked with all that sugar and fat.

Sad though when we gotta live life like this, resisting & saying no all the time :(

But you shouldn't be depriving yourself otherwise there's no way you'll keep up this way of eating for life and if you don't make it a lifetime choice, you'll be back again next year and the year after that ad infinitum!

The whole idea is that Food Optimising is a regime intended to teach you how to shop, cook and eat in a healthier way for life. It may take a while for your brain to give up craving the wrong things, but it will if you give it time.

Eating lots of 'free foods' should fill you up and keep you full for longer so that you don't crave the sugary, fatty foods which give you a high followed by something of a crash, which makes you want more.....basically it's an addiction! Stick with Food Optimising and it gets easier ;)

Reproduced from a website: - In the psychological sense, sugar withdrawal can be a very real and painful process, replete with cravings, anxiety or depression, and a general sense of loss when the addictive substance is not used. This suggests we take sugar withdrawal as seriously as addictions to other substances like alcohol or drugs. Most people find that physical cravings for sugar will end within three to four weeks after complete sugar withdrawal.

Call me a pessimist, but i'm beginning to think that SW created the EE plan to make me lose weight slowly so i will pay them for longer LOL! Seriously though I've lost 3lbs in 3 weeks, which is a bit disappointing because When i started SW the first time around i was 2.5stone lighter than I am now and lost 4lbs on my first week doing the Green plan, and then 2-2.5lbs a week thereafter! So frustrated! Gonna try doing the the green plan now to see if that helps!

Are you remembering to fill a third of your plate with superfree foods at each meal while following the EE plan? Also don't forget to try and drink 2½ litres of water a day - together they will really make a difference to your rate of weight loss.

Hi Consultant, please can you explain how drinking more water helps to speed up weight loss? I've not done this yet as I don't understand why it would make such a difference.

  • Peteyboy - When I drink plenty of water (1.5 - 2L per day measured, spread through the day), I have a better weight loss on the scales that week.

As I understand it, it isn't the water itself that is creating the weight loss, instead, the water is allowing the body to work more efficiently.

Consultant31 posted the following on the Slimming world support thread a while back:
The potion for losing that excess body fat is all around you. It covers two thirds of the planet. If you eat right and exercise at the intensity, frequency and duration proper for you, but still can’t get rid of a little paunch here and there, you’re probably just not drinking enough water.
No need to get defensive. You’re actually quite normal. Most people don’t drink enough water. Most people are also carrying around a few more pounds than they would be if they did drink enough water. If you can’t seem to get that weight off, try drowning your sorrows in nature’s magical weight-loss mineral. It works, and here’s why:

There are many forms of metabolism going on in your body right now, but the one everyone is talking about it the metabolism of fat. This is actually something that the liver does when it converts stored fat to energy. The liver has other functions, but this is one of its main jobs.
Unfortunately, another of the liver’s duties is to pick up the slack for the kidneys, which need plenty of water to work properly. If the kidneys are water-deprived, the liver has to do their work along with its own, lowering its total productivity. It then can’t metabolise fat as quickly or efficiently as it could when the kidneys were pulling their own weight. If you allow this to happen, not only are you being unfair to your liver, but you’re also setting yourself up to store fat.

Water will do wonders for your looks! It flushes out impurities in your skin, leaving you with a clear, glowing complexion. It also makes your skin look younger. Skin that is becoming saggy, either due to aging or weight loss, plumps up very nicely when the skin cells are hydrated.
In addition, it improves muscle tone. You can lift weights until you’re blue in the face, but if your muscles are suffering from a drought, you won’t notice a pleasant difference in your appearance. Muscles that have all the water they need contract more easily, making your workout more effective, and you’ll look much nicer than if you had flabby muscles under sagging skin.

When you drink all the water you need, you will very quickly notice a decrease in your appetite, possibly even on the first day! If you're serious about becoming leaner and healthier, drinking water is an absolute must. If you're doing everything else right and still not seeing results, this might just what's missing
