Morning Peeps
another busy day ahead, i woke up on the sofa ages ago. I can`t even remember falling asleep so i must have been tired.
Yesterday i was surprisingly very good all day, i stuck to the plan of thai green curry for tea and i ended up having the cauli rice too
The only things that i had that i shouldn't were a couple of cans of guinness.
More painting to do today, i`m going to try and get the ceiling painted with the second coat and the wall with the lightswitch too, the Christmas tree is mostly up :rotfl: I say mostly as there are still some baubles to hang on. It took so long to find the blooming thing and then find somewhere that it would fit that i lost steam, the furniture in here is different this year so its a bit of a squeeze.
Brekkie will be the usual scramblies and mushrooms - probably on toast, dinner will be a sandwich and tea will be Mazzers lasagne that i made a while ago and the froze. In fact may have the lasagne for dinner and then pop to the pub for a mixed grill for tea as we are off out tonight anyway *scratches chin* decisions decisions.
Best get a move on, i have a funeral to go to later, 47 is no age to leave this worldMakes you think about things doesn't it.
Mazzers - Loaf looks great. C`mon then share the latest recipeI`m still using the original one and fancy a change
Have great lc days peeps oh and before i forget again welcome to debtmonkey:hello:
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all
Had a LC brekkie & lunch yesterday & then pizza & garlic bread for dinner - lost a lb this morning??!! Will do the same today with a different dinner.
mazzers, that bread does look good. I bought some Burgen & sugar-free peanut butter yesterday - that's my lunch - not too bad carb-wise. I was looking at getting a breadmaker for Christmas but Amazon have put the price up by £21 since last week so I'll wait until after Chrimbo. I've been after one for years so can wait a bit longer.
Sunny, I've just had some bad news this morning & a similar age as wellI knew it was coming but am still shocked. I only saw him a few weeks ago & although I thought he didn't look well, he hadn't been diagnosed at that point. As you say, far too young to leave this world & very sad

Well my weekend binge backfired with a HUGE 3lb gain :mad:
Thankfully that is all my partys done until christmas it's self so no more alcohol until then.
I'm hoping that by tomorrow I'll of dropped at least 1-2lb of it.
Breakfast hasn't happend yet as we have just got up. I'm actually taking a day off to christmas shop:T
Hope every-one does well today on lc x
EDIT to add that Aldi have 500g of sprouts on for only 39pLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Well, sorry Mazzers, but I'm afraid I'm really not impressed with the psyllium husks so far
Nothing much different to the senna as far as I can tell, except a bit of wind and a permanent bloated feeling. I think I'll give it a miss for a few days and see if there's any difference.
If I decide not to continue with it, I've no idea what I'll do with the bloomin' stuff... I bet there's someone who knows how to make cakes with it or something :rotfl:
I'll have a read about psyllium to see if that explains things.0 -
Ooh, it turned out great, didnt slope this time either
This revised version doesn't rise as much as the original but the texture is better.
Should make a good sarnie for work tomorrow.. very easy to slice too.
oooh i could practically suck that bread right off the screenit looks nommy - must try it - could you post your exact recipe pleeeease
Sweet sorry to hear you have had bad news (((hugs)))
Sunny how awful to have to go to a funeral of someone so young(((hugs)))
not doing so well today - im at work and there is a tin of qu@lity street and a tin of biccies and 2 cakes  and im here all day from 7.30 am to 6pm and i just cant help myself0 -
*hugs* sunny & sweet
that reminds me of "sooty and sweep" ahhh.
mazzers the bread looks amazing, bring me some RIGHT NOw!!! :rotfl:I had a rubbish nights sleep, woke up feeling sick a few times and have been craving carbs ever since I woke up. To top it off, there are biscuits in the office and I have another 2 hours to get through without touching them! Always happens when I'm tired but I've resisted so far, had: omelette, mackerel, feta salad. Don't know what to have for dinner, maybe burgers and salad?Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Ok...know there is the ongoing 'debate' as to if GG Scandinavean rusks are 'really' NIL carbs...but general concensus is they are 2 net carbs. They taste 'ok' if topped with something nice....! As I'm sad i had a mooch round Tescos today (get out more man!)...at labels on crispbreads etc...RYVITA WITH SESAME SEEDS-5.8 carbs/slice...1.8 fibre-4 net carbs! Nearly twice the size of the GG & my god they taste better-cheaper too!
When i fisrt 'dabbled' with low carb a couple of years ago i didn't research it. I'd roast a whole chicken....eat 3/4 of it..omlettes, etc.
I've approached this the 2nd time after doing loads more research.
Thought....in caveman times did we have bread...cakes....NO! Berries, leaves...MEAT!
This time I'm trying to keep to 25gms or less carbs a day (without being too anal about it...& I'm still having the odd vodka or 3-neat of course!). Every day i try (again without being too precious about it)-to space the carbs & have some GOOD carbs.
Breakfast-trimmed bacon dry fried, mushrooms with a bit of oil, 100gm only (6 carbs) reduced sugar baked beans, scrambled egg or 3 fried eggs (Other days I may just have beans & scrambled egg).
Snacks-almonds/cheese.
Lunch-either tinned fish in oil + 100g black beans/flagelot beans, etc or if lazy some GG or riveta with cottage cheese. (probable 6-8 carbs).
Dinner-leanish beef steak or pork steak or chicken in low carb sauces, brussel sprouts, loadsa butter (!)....100 odd grams forzen berries + full fat (lidl!) yoghure + splenda sweetener..6-9 carbs.
So..usually 25 carbs max. If hungry cheese/nuts. To be honest I don't feel hungry. I feel I'm getting all my proper nutrients....n 'constipation' (!!)..carb flu.....etc. No cravings...feel great!!
The only not quite convenient thing about LC is if ypu have to go out....harder to find LC options so a bit of thought required. Once I can find where this '7' loaves bread from Irwins can be bought (6 carbs a slice-proper bread!) & I can get my breadmaker on the go I'll be happy!
I know that we're all at a different level of insulin resistance but i feel I don't get on with carbs at...so will see how weight loss goes in next 3 weeks go's then up to say 30/35gm a day. Once at target weight I'll carry on...but have a weekly evening off (I know from research you may gain 2-4lbs straight away with glycogen refueling-water!!!!!). So I'm waffling.....(!)
Any thoughts on my daily diet??! I HAVE to start day with a big brekkie (!).0 -
I have made this in the past with great success but due to the oat flour its about 6g carbs per slice
http://www.low-carb.org.uk/recipes/bread/gabis/
This is one i have been making recently, it rises well and mine looked just like the pic but it is very much like a bathroom sponge, a strange consistency but fine if you want bread while lc-ing
http://www.food.com/recipe/best-low-carb-bread-bread-machine-102631
This is what i now use, as pictured, it's a bit denser but not such a strange consistency although it is a bit on the dry side. fine for moist filllings.
Sorry it's in tblspns, i tried to adapt it to weights to make it quicker but thats when it started going wrong and sloping so i've gone back to tblspns now.
8 tbspn warm water
1 egg
1tbspn butter
1/4 teasp sugar
1 teasp dried yeast
3 tbspn ground flax
4 tbspn soy flour
10 tbspn vital wheat gluten
5 tbspn almond flour (or any finely ground nuts)
I have a 1lb bread maker so use double the recipe.
mix sugar and yeast in two tbspns of warm water from recipe and leave to activate for a few mins.
Put all wet ingredients into bread machine
add yeast mixture (frothing by now)
add all dry ingredients
Rapid cook (1 hour)
I changed the dry ingredients (22 tbspn altogether) as i found it a bit 'flaxy' but if you like the taste of flax put more and less nut flour as i think this is what makes it a bit dry, as long as there are 22 tbspns it should be ok.
Hope that hasn't confused anyone.
Edited to say unsure of the carbs as different sites give different values, feel free to work it out but i estimated it at roughly >50g per loaf and i get 16 slices so is just over 3g per slice.0
