Heard of this 'Blood Type' diet? I'm an O type and it just confirms I'm better on high protein / low carb food.
THE BLOOD TYPE DIET
In Eat Right For Your Type Dr D'Admao matches the blood type to dietary recommendations, summarised here.
•The O diet Eat meat (high protein, low carbohydrate). Cut out wheat and most other grains. Engage in vigorous aerobic exercise. Your risk factors for ulcers and inflammatory diseases such as arthritis increase if you eat incorrectly for your type.
•The A diet You should be largely vegetarian (eating a high carbohydrate, low fat diet). Engage in gentle exercise such as yoga or golf and meditate to deal with stress. Your risk factors for cancer and heart disease increase if you eat incorrectly, according to Dr D'Admao.
•The B diet You should have the most varied diet of all the blood types, one including meat; yours is the only blood type that does well with dairy products. Engage in exercise such as moderate swimming or walking. Your risk for slow-growing viruses that attack the nervous system increases if you eat incorrectly for your type.
•The AB diet You have most of the benefits and intolerances of types A and B, so most foods which are recommended for either type A or B will also work for you. Engage in calming exercises and relaxation techniques. You have the friendliest immune system.
In the UK 46 per cent of people have O type blood, 42 per cent A, nine per cent B and three per cent A/B.
its been debunked as utter snake oil for so many reasons, he wont provide any research, he states O is the original blood gene when is is in fact A, the actual statistics of blood type breakdown for different conditions etc do not match what he states..
in fact your just as likely to be overweight / diabetic / have heart disease regardless of your blood type

Ok, I get that you think this is rubbish. Not sure there's a need to be so dismissive of those who follow these diets and chose to believe in something opposite to you though.Herman - MP for all!0 -

when people make claims that can not be substantiated by research and actually are contradicted by the available evidence then they are fully deservant of being dismissed0 -

Well we'll agree to disagree then. And maybe I should have used the word rude instead of dismissive.Herman - MP for all!0 -

i guess it depends which camp you are in, some people think that all opinions are valid, i alas am in the camp that if you cant back it up then its of restricted value
i could make the claim that snickers bars are infact a gift from the gods and if you eat only 5 snickers bars a day you will loose weight because of the power imbibed into them by the gods of Mt Olympus, you will of course loose weight on this diet but only because 5 snickers bars a day would be a substantial calorie reduction for most people and nothing to do with the bars mountainy goodness or lack of it
or how about 2 litre bottle of tizzer a day for red haired dieters
even in LC there's some grey areas especially with the affect on health of having a very high protein intake for long periods of time
makes me sound a right git doesn't it ...0 -

You've read the Daily Mail this morning?

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Nail hit right on the head!!
Been out this morning and feeling much more perky than last week - antibiotics are nuking the bugs.
Had some nuts for breakfast and some cream cheese wrapped in baked ham, followed by fresh strawberries and cream for afters. Evening meal will be.... mmmm not too sure! Maybe chicken in prosciutto with heaps of salad, or I have some chicken livers left over (stir fried in garlic :j).
No cross training or even much walking yet though I did park the car at the very far end of the supermarket today so I had to walk a bit further. Every little helps!!0 -

I'm not defending the diet, I don't know the first thing about it. I came across the part I posted above, on the net and really my only thought about it, was that it was interesting that it confirmed my feelings that low carb suited me better than other woes, with regard to energy levels.
It may well be crap, it makes no odds to me, but my point wasn't about your comments on the diet itself, it was more about the fact I felt it was a bit off to call people brainless sheep etc just because they want to follow this plan. I just don't think any of us have the right to be rude about other people's choices even if they do sound like crap to us.
Anyway, soapbox is back in the cupboard now.Herman - MP for all!0 -

hmm possibly, however celebrities do court public attention infact some of them are total media prostitutes about it (not mentioning any recently divorced former glamour models) therefore they are aware for all the consequences of this attention
and there sheep not for following this diet but rather because they worship at the table of celebrity and follow what ever the celebs do, which makes the whole celebrity culture pretty dangerous.
ill have to see if i can get a celeb to publicly follow my Mt Olympus Snickers Bar Diet and see how many people follow it, I wonder if anyone would work out the snickers greek gods link0 -
ok LC experts out there
I bought a cheap burger press and just realised i have no idea how to make them
I assume it involves lean mince, onions and herbs but how do you get it to bind together?
oh im allergic to eggs0 -
Not a LC expert or a burger expert, but I would think the mince/finely chopped onion/herb combo will bind together with just a bit of squidging, no egg required.0
