Morning!
Feel better today. Still got a sore throat but nowhere near as bad and I don't ache like I did yesterday.
Maybe it had something to do with the healing properties of the ice cream I had.
sistercas, glad you managed to remain in one piece. Apparently I got on all fours once and barked like a dog at my (then) boyfriend. Good enough for him I say, just I pity I never bit him too. :rotfl:Needless to say I didn't remember any of it come morning.
I've decided I'm going to have an affair. With sex and everything. It's my new incentive to lose weight. Whatchya think? :rotfl:

Morning all.
What do you guys do when you're going to stay with people? I have a tough time coming up over easter. WE're spending easter weekend with my inlaws, which is fine because MIL knows about low carb and can just about cope with catering for us.
Then we're going to stay with my Aunt and Uncle for three days. Last time we stayed, a year ago, we were low carbing, and my aunty wasn't bad at catering - she sent me questions and I answered and we managed to cope. I'm planning on taking a bucket of Lidl yog and some berries and nuts for breakfast, hoping we can have salady lunches, but not sure how far I can go with helping with evening meals without sounding bossy and annoying. The problem is that my uncle had a heart attack last year and I know she's had him on a strict low fat diet, which of course is going to be anathema to the low carb. I desperately don't want to fall off the wagon as I'm trying so bloody hard at hte moment to get to a weight when I can ttc again.
How would you phrase it? My problem is that people like to think they know what low carb is, and then present you with completely the wrong stuff, and I always feel I should eat it as I hate to be rude.0 -
Can you take your own food? Sounds a faff I know, but you could pass it off as you not wanting to be a nuisance or cause any hassle (especially with uncle's low fat diet) so you thought it might help out if you brought some stuff with you? If I wasn't icing and you came to visit me I'd be delighted if you brought your own and I didn't need to worry about feeding you stuff different to the normal routine.
You could take some cold cooked chicken, or make up some 'ready meals' before hand. Do Maz's butter chicken thing for example, put it in one of those tinfoil containers and all you need to do is reheat. You could freeze a few meals in advance and stick them in the freezer when you get there and just take one out every day. No hassle, aunt doesn't have to worry about you or do anything differently.
Failing that, you'll just need to grin and bear it and hope for the best.
Btw...what's ttc mean?Herman - MP for all!0 -
We want to try again after the OH got desperately ill the first time we tried it. He is sorted and now on new meds.
He's diabetic, I just want to lose a stone.
My question is- can you help us with relatively cheap meals LC ?? We eat very plain old-fashioned food- no exotic thai/mexican/chinese stuff, no curries no chilli.:rotfl: I was doing fine on the Wartime Kitchen thing, but they ate a lot of potatoes..
We like shepherds/cottage pie, stews, salads I suppose are cheap, but I hate cooking and am not inventive so any ideas welcomed!:)0 -

I think thats a damn fine idea do you have anyone in mind? I could 'do' John Barrowman at any time of the day , just not sure he'd feel the same about me :rotfl:0 -

If you hate cooking this way of eating can be pretty tough as you're meant to be focusing on proper food rather than processed or ready meals. Cauliflower mash is a good substitute for anything that needs rice or mash. Stuffed peppers with Tuna and cream cheese is cheap and lc. There's a whole thread on the IPD website about doing the low carb thing cheaply, you'll get more inspiration there: http://www.pig2twig.co.uk/forums/topic.php?id=5738&replies=1200 -

Welcome to my world. It's a long standing joke around here about how I hate cooking and how uninventive I am.
Grated cauli is the biggest and best thing in the world. It can take the place of mashed potato or rice depending on what you have it with. Turnip chips can replace normal chips. Some of the recipes on the first page look or sound a bit daunting but you'd be surprised how simple they are once you try them.I think thats a damn fine idea do you have anyone in mind? I could 'do' John Barrowman at any time of the day , just not sure he'd feel the same about me :rotfl:
I tell you I would be a size 8 for Sawyer.(Josh Holloway - Lost) I'd be permanantly horizontal. :rotfl:
Trying to conceive. Sorry, forgot which thread I was on!
Ach no need sarah....between me and Maz we've got a selection from you to choose from. Just pick one of ours.I'm sure I can speak for Maz when I say...please. :rotfl:
