Pleased to see Annika won the Favourite Witch poll
Interesting to see her say "The most important is that you do not mix fats and carbohydrates in the same right." So it is the combination of fat with carb that forces the body to store the fat while it deals with the carb.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

mazzers, crunchy nut cornflakes with natural yoghurt & chopped strawberries - yum
I'm hungry so am just dreaming.
alias & mazzers, glad to hear you both back low-carbing - that was a temporary, albeit spectacular blip last night!! :rotfl:
Cupra & Mrs, hope you enjoy your BBQ - I'm jealous!! Could just eat a big burger or some steak. Told you, I'm hungry!!
Well done Ted on making it onto the Dr. Dalvquist site - saw the before & after pics & you look amazing!! :T
Mercy, good to hear from you, sounds like you having a great time. Hope Bolton is sunny when you get back.
Badger, that takeaway sounds bloomin gorgeous (my hunger pangs are really hurting now!!) And well done Badger's Mum on the weight loss - pizza sounds good to me
Ok, I think you've probably worked out that I'm hungry!! But, the reason for that is I'm just back from a 4-5 mile walk (felt longer) & I'm shattered. And hungry!! Walked along the beach to the next village & stopped off at the pub for a glass of wine, then walked back againIt was a lot harder on the way back though as the tide had come in so we had to walk on the soft sand - murder on me legs & bum but good exercise I suppose!! :rotfl: Having a glass of wine probably didn't help as it just made me feel tired - could quite happily have sleep-walked back!!
So, I'm going to have to make dinner a bit earlier. Btw my menu today was/is going to be
B - blues/rasps & cream
L - salad leaves, coleslaw, 3 cherry toms & 1 + half pieces fudge
D - chicken in cheesy sauce (thanks Tesco) & either cheesy leeks or broc/cauli/cheesy mash
Might pop back later, if I can keep my eyes open that is

Oh dear, hubby has just texted me from Morrison's to ask if I want the Baileys Original 1L for £10 - I said no!!
But did text him back to say I actually want the coffee one if they have it :whistle:0 -
Oh gosh, I've just gone and invited a colleague (hopefully new friend) round to mine for the evening, how naughty! Do you think a night of white wine will counteract the red from last night??? :rolleyes:Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

I knew that I would (nah nah nah nah nah nah nah)
So good

I feel fine.
I do hope you are all singing alone now? (Actually I dont even know if that's the right words :rotfl:)
I dont know whether it was all those carbs I inhaled last night that has shocked my system into action or what it is...but I'm much brighter than I was.
I've just had (home made no less:rolleyes: ) chicken breast stuffed with garlic butter, a little cream cheese and some green beans & wrapped in bacon. Along with some cheesy leeks. It wasn't as good as shop bought but hey ho, I dont care.
I didn't have breakfast and lunch was a bit of chicken on the run so I'm balancing things out now, lol.
Badger....you gonna show [STRIKE]him[/STRIKE] this 'colleague' your pole?:rotfl:
Btw me and Sweet have an arrangement that suits both of us...she walks...I support from a distance. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -

Darling, she's a lady! I do associate with members of my own sex occasionally
Although my pole is actually a fixture in the main living room at the moment so yeah, it's pretty hard to miss... secretly hoping she might be tempted to have a go (she wanted to do lessons but her boyfriend "wouldn't let her").
Glad to see you're feeling so cheery Alias, a little scary if you don't mind me saying! :rotfl:Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Sweet, i was just gonna congratulate you on your reserve too, you naughty monkey.
Alias, glad you feel brighter today, i feel ok too, hopefully not much damage done eh..
Badger, tis a scientific fact that white wine counteracts red if consumed within 24 hours... or did i dream it.. :rotfl::rotfl:
Not been hungry today thankfully, had my brekkie and will have something nice for tea, might even weigh tomorrow.
Mercy, see you soon.
Sweet, step away from the baileys:rolleyes:
Had to add that i want kevs BBQ food too. really fancy it, but hey, come summer we can gorge on bbq food.. ooh i cant wait.0 -

Sounds good to me - better than my Tesco meal anyway - think I overcooked it a tad

Well, I'm feeling soooooooo much 'better' now. Ok, I'm aching a bit but I've stuffed my face so I'm a happy [STRIKE]piggy[/STRIKE] bunny
mazzers, I heard that [STRIKE]baloney[/STRIKE] scientific fact about red wine as well
I fear it's too late to step away from the Baileys - hubby got me the coffee one :j just hope I like it!! (Btw I noticed the carb content is actually on the bottle now!! _pale_ ) Anyway, might have some tonight but am actually thinking of red wine seeing as I already had one earlier!!

Too Much Protein, Eaten Along With Fat, May Lead To Insulin Resistance
Here is The Dr. Kwasniewski's Optimal Diet referred to in the post.
I suppose I should say I've a vested interest in this discussion as Dr Dahlqvist is very much in the low carb ~ high fat camp. I'm not sure if she'd agree with the optimal diets 1g protein to 2.5~3.5g fat~0.8g carb or in practice a
typical 60 kg person, 60g protein 150 to 210g of fat, but only 30 to 50g of carbohydrate but I don't think I'm that far off that kind of ratio.
Eat MORE calories to break a stall? Lord, how counter-intuitive is that? But again, if you study how the metabolism actually works, that makes perfect sense. If you combine that knowledge with the new information in that study, it becomes even clearer. For some insulin resistant individuals with this particular metabolic issue, the only recourse is to up our fat (and calories) while severely lowering protein intake. Carb intake can never go back to where it was pre-LC, but it no longer needs to be at rock bottom either. I've actually doubled my daily carb intake in the last month (from 20 NC to 40 NC) and still lost weight. And I've upped my caloric intake from an average 1300-1500 to an average 1700-1900.My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Oh lordy i hope thats not referring to me.
I have always been a big meat eater, even as a skinny child i could never get enough. I have never eaten visible fat though or ice cream, crisps, cakes and biscuits as a child, i still dont (except cakes and the odd biscuit) out of choice but am scared of makin insulin resistance worse.
Will have to go for blood tests to check glucose levels now i'm LC-ing.
Might order a meter for myself now.
Thanks ted for that post.
I did actually lose weight on SW red days which has higher carbs than atkins because fruit is encouraged, but very little bread/potatoes.
Am bl00dy concerned and undecided now.0
