Sweets - glad I am not the only one to feel like that about buying a car. My OH wanted to go and look last weekend when it was raining and I felt as though he had asked me to go to the dentist to get root canal work. Refused to go. Hopefully we won't need a new car for a long time but I'm sure you thought that too.
Mazzers tried pork scrathchings once and didn't like but to be honest I think my teeth are so poor I would break one if I tried to eat them.
The low carb Sainsbury sausages were quite good, would buy them again and I am not a fan of sausages.
Is a lovely sunny morning here, probably still cold, so think I will walk to gym. Work has been a bit difficult recently so trying to lift my mood. Went into my local charity shop yesterday and managed to get my favourite work skirt from M&S in a smaller size. Great skirt got it in Marks in the sale and paid more for the second hand one but it is in good condition and I know it washes great, doesn't need ironed and always made me feel well dressed. Also 36" length so don't need to wear tights and the white legs are hidden.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning, been terrible lately:eek: However i am on Atkins induction from tomorrow as i have finally finished reading the book.
One quick question, i know you cant drink alcohol but what is the deal on cooking with it. I love beef in beer or beef stroganoff , i put red wine in my bolognaise etc. Am i ok doing this?
Hope everyone is doing ok, i have been lurking but not lcing:pThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

do you mind if I just have a moan.......
I saw a Tv chief this week say we eat too much protein which I thought was misleading.....
When is the Health Professionals going to let the penny drop about our carb lead diet esp here in this country..>>>>>>leading to obesity
I remember reading a book called "pure white and deadly" about the effects refined flour, rice, salt and sugar played on our health nearly 20 yrs ago
The Emperors new clothes keep coming into mind.....is it too difficult to fingure it out..
or do thes food giants put out propaganda..=low fat but full of sugar???
ok ok I'm off my soap box now...
Thanks for listening.....0 -

Good luck starting tomorrow. IMHO (for what it's worth), if it's not on the list of induction foods then no you can't have it. You need to give yourself the best possible start and break old habits that have led to weight gain over the years. You might be able to get away with reintroducing some alcohol in your cooking a bit further down the line if you're losing weight well but for now it's just adding extra carbs which could be used more nutritionally. Anyway, keep asking questions if you're not sure.

thats really interesting. I think most people are brainwashed to eat low fat high carb. I know at work several people are taking orlistat and most are on a low fat diet. I dont tell them I am low carbing because I know they would look at me as if I had 2 heads! and yet I can see this way of eating has done me more good in the last few weeks than a lifetime of low fat eating has ever done. I am the lightest I have been in years ( still plenty of weight to lose though) my blood sugars are improving vastly, and most of all I enjoy what I eat . its early days for me and I know I have a lot to learn about lcarbing (eg the peas) but I know its a way of eating I can do for the rest of my life

Dr Ding dong ,
yes I did read this article infact i saved it ment to show it to the practise nurse who also deals with the diabetics at the GP's she poo poos low carb,
She told me that some one who she know did the low carb and their cholcestrol was sky high..I can only think they didnt do it at all properly!
It just makes so much sense when you know how the body burns fat esp in our sedate way of life.
I did email Hannah Sutter who wrote the article, I felt it was a voice in the wilderness to say yea and well done for getting this in print mainstream .. rather than hidden research.
I am so thankful for these forums as I have learnt to much and gained so much surport.0 -
