Yeah, linni, don't starve yourself. LC doesn't work with low calorie as you go into starvation mode an dyour body does all it can to hang on to the weight. Eat well, and fillingly, and low carb. Have some Chicken breast cooked in your fridge to snack on and some nuts, some soup that can be heated quickly. I need all these things (and cheese, my bete noire). You mustn't let yourself get bored or the diet will be doomed.

More yoga today. Teacher says she can see a big difference in me which is great. Blloody should be by now, I've been doing it daily!

    B: Sausages and fried egg
    L: avocado and gouda salad
D: going out, probably auvergine bake at Pizza express again.
    Snacks: brazil nuts.
And I might have a sneaky glass of wine.
  • Linni, how do you have your cauliflower?? Do you keep it in florets?? Plain?? Have you tried it mashed?? I usually just put butter in mine when mashing, but you could add double cream to make it richer & more satisfying.

Other low-carb veggies you could try for variety - broccoli, green beans, mushrooms, leeks. There are more, but these are my staples :o

I can't eat my veggies plain, so always make some kind of sauce to smother them with. My favourite atm is creamy mushroom, which is basically mushrooms chopped into small pieces, sauteed in olive oil or butter until cooked & then add double cream & heat through for a while & stir until the cream changes colour to a mushroomy colour!! Season with black pepper & that's it (or viola as mazzers would say!! :rotfl:)

There's also a quick cheese sauce, which is double cream or creme fraiche heated up & grated cheese & black pepper added. Simples!! :D
  • daisy, your 'eggs on toast' sound luverly!! Mmmmmmm, have to give that a try.

I actually think you're being quite clever by only having a small dish of those pretzels (a personal favourite of mine :o) - at least you're practising portion control - my hand would be in & out of that bag, kidding myself that I'm only eating a couple, whereas having them on a dish you can see exactly how many you're having.

And, apart from that little deviation, you sound like you're doing great!! :D

    Hi all!

Had some kinda tummy bug yesterday so basically ate soup with chicken korma over squashed cauli. Slept from 6.30 pm till 11pm, did hsewk then slept some more :D

Feel better today but not quite there yet.

    B - 2x crispbreads with cheese
    L - spicy veg n gammon/bacon stew
D - will be lumps of pork with leek, mange tout and mushroom stir fry

Going for another early night to finish off this mild malaise :rotfl:

I've not had more than about 5 or 6 hrs a night since returning to work and think it caught up with me. Books are helping with the dropping off so will be doing that again when pork is scoffed down :)

    Sweet dreams all!

  • Get well soon, Mercy, sending healthy vibes to you :)
Well, maybe not that healthy as I've had the sniffles today so can't vouch for the vibes to be completely virus-free!! :rotfl:

When you feel up to it/bothered, can you put Daisy's chicken pie in the recipe list, pretty please?? I've quoted it but maybe I should have just looked at the post number?? I'll do that in a min ... Tia, chuck :kisses3:

Hi folks, i'm full up with a cold, dont get ill often so cant complain, also totm and didnt want to go to work today icon9.gif

My poor nose is raw as i cant find the vaseline or the vicks, am now reduced to rubbing peppermint cracked heel cream on it, quite soothing though, and clears the passages so this might become a regular, and only 89p in home bargains.

I seem to be having one day on and one day off lc atm

Linni, my friend and i used to love chewing on liquorice root, you chew out the flavour then spit it out, seems a bit pointless now but we enjoyed it at the time.

Hopefully will feel up to going to Aldi tomorrow for some butternut squash, i refuse to pay tesco prices!

Morning all - today I'm having yoghurt, scrambled eggs/cheese and sausages with cauli/broccolli. I don't starve myself, but I've been eating more yoghurt if i'm hungry, which I why I wondered I'm having too much (I could easily eat the whole tub in a day!) I get the yo-yo effect, when I eat savoury, I crave for something sweet afterwards. I thought the sticks might help so I might try some. I've got some peanuts (in shells cause I dont like salt) but I've not had any yet. Cauliflower I do have in different ways but have gone off it mashed. The creamy sauces are a great idea, will try that tomorrow as I've got a load of mushrooms. Thanks for the tips, I'm feeling more positive today, and I'm armed with new ideas and a stocked food cupboard..
  • Morning peeps :hello:

Aww, poor [STRIKE]rudolph, the red-nosed[/STRIKE] mazzers, hope your cold goes soon. Using cracked heel cream on your sore hooter is hilarious, but inspired!! I like your creative thinking!! :rotfl:
I still haven't made it into Aldi, need BNS as well so might go today if I get chance. Also want to try their moisturiser (sliani or something??) as it's supposed to be good (& cheap).

I was really hungry this morning, but couldn't face my usual cheese & mushroom omelette for some reason, so had daisy's idea of eggs on low-carb crispbread 'toast' & twas yummy, thumbs up from me, so thanks for that little gem, daisy!! :T Only had one crispbread though because I still want my usual meal at lunch-time, hopefully there will be enough time between crispbread consumption to not cause a problem, iyswim :o:whistle:

    Menu for today:
B - 2 fried eggs on one low-carb crispbread 'toast' with 3 rashers streaky bacon
    L - 2 low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese, garlic sausage
D - burger with cauli mash, green beans, garlicky/cheesy leeks & mushrooms

I don't have to rush out this morning so I'm having a second cup of coffee, which is a luxury for me these days  Hope everyone has a good lcing day
